Dad, Tinkerer, Dish Wrangler. let’s be honest, we’ve got bike posts and the occasional cat pic here.

you might be surprised by this, even shocked, but a lightweight, nicely fitted road bike is slightly more engaging to ride than a hundred pound cargo e-bike with another hundred pounds of children on the back.

I will never be this cool :(

But I can’t bike around all the time, what if I need to carry 70lbs of cat supplies home?

every time I see “load-bearing”, I move a tiny fraction closer to a big red button that says Butlerian Jihad.

Here we see the rare feral rack. It’s been living in the brush for some time now, and has grown unaccustomed to the presence of its natural companion, the bicycle.

"You were riding in the morning, or at night, or on a quiet road, or a main road. The only time and place to ride a bike is a time beyond time and a place beyond place, where the space-time continuum is bent so strangely that you are both everywhere and nowhere." buff.ly/bSa1Wm5

Always a good sign that the city engineering department is taking resident concerns seriously and using road design to force safe driver behavior. /s

me flying up the coast on a little out and back: ha ha ha, yes me turning around into a stiff headwind: well this fucking sucks, what the fuck

Man, between family and work it’s been rough for getting time on the bike, but I managed to spin out 40 miles this morning, and my legs are sore but I am so pleased.

sick and tired of e-bikes being advertised with dangerous stunts that are absolutely illegal on public roads. /s

North American traffic engineers continue to find new and exciting ways to avoid any hint of bike accommodations near intersections

I test rode a Riese & Müller Load4 60 today, and that bike is smooooth. Way easier to handle than I expected. Would’ve got it had my kids legs been a little shorter. Instead I’m gonna test ride a used Load4 75 next weekend 👀

Also, my wife had no issues maneuvering and balancing the bike, even with both kids in it! The lower center of gravity of the bakfiets style bike was a huge advantage over the longtail we’ve got now.

Man, it cost me $80 to fill my car’s gas tank the other day, glad being mostly on my bike means it should be another two months before I need to fill it again.

Okay, bike friends, I am looking for a new cargo bike. I’ve got a Velotric Packer 1, which has been good for me, but carries the weight too high for my wife to feel comfortable riding it.

Looking for something that can haul two kids (6 and 3 currently), and is easy to handle for someone without a ton of skill/balance. Ideally two wheels, because around here sometimes sidewalks are load bearing bike infra, and getting up curb cuts seems hard on a Bunch.

Things they don’t warn you about when you buy a longtail: Your three year old will have chocolate on his face, and will end up sticking his face into the back of your shirt, leaving you with chocolate on the back of your shirt
