Contrast this with the Netherlands, where if as a driver you knock off a drunk cyclist who was riding at night with no lights on the wrong side of lane, it is still your fault, not the cyclists. Their logic, is that in a contest between a car and a cyclist, the later always comes off worse off.

That’s not completely accurate. There is a rebuttable presumption that the driver would be at fault. The onus is on the driver to show why they’re not at fault.

I was exaggerating a little, but not much…you are correct there is a little wiggle room for a car driver, but the emphasis is on little. The presumption, is that 2 tonnes of machine is going to come off better than a cyclist.

Absolutely. As it should be. I was talking to someone on here and they highlighted US DoT figures that said about collisions between cyclists and drivers “the cyclist was more likely to be at fault if they were a minor” This sounded to me like they were holding children to an adult standard,…

You forgot riding on the sidewalk is illegal and dangerous so walk your bike but now you and your bike take up 3-4 feet Cyclists take up too much space E bikes are dangerous and need to be banned You must buy a car it's the only way

I was hit by a car. The driver’s excuse? “The sun was in my eyes”. The officer replied “son, get a pair of sunglasses”, or so it was reported because I was unconscious and on my way to the hospital. Two bruised ribs and a broken/dislocated finger. My bike got the worst of it.

I kid you not a cop literally blamed me for trying to cross a stroad when I complained that none of the drivers were stopping at this marked crossing, the cop said: why are you trying to cross now? It’s rush hour! Drivers are just trying to get home to their families. 🙈

Vulnerable road users should invoke the elder gods and start moving through non-euclidian space. It might bring about the end times, but at least drivers could focus on crashing into each other.

Once has a cop tell me to get off the road and use the sidewalk. I'm a 350lb man on a 62 frame road bike, and I've been clocked in excess of 25 miles an hour down hill. If I hit some pedestrian not paying attention on the sidewalk, we are both dead. That's why the law says I use the street.
