A while ago I put together a Google Sheet for helping leaders reflect on their strengths and weaknesses. It uses heuristics from The Complete Leader, and Google’s Project Oxygen. Ratings are from 1 (low) to 10 (high) and the result is a nice pair of diagrams to identify things to improve.

Just incase you don't feel old yet... Chuckie Finster, from Rugrats, is now 37 years old. Angelica Pickles is 38. Tommy Pickles, Phil and Lil DeVille are 36.

Woohoo! Snow season is coming!

Ryan Voutilainen@yvrwxwatcher.bsky.social

My first look live this fall and look at what I have!! SNOW!! Hello from Mount Seymour! 🎿🏂❄️ 4pm PT | 24 October 2026 #ShareYourWeather #BCStorm #BCStormWatch #BCwx #YVRWx

Blake just working away! The agent isn’t on my phone. The agent is running on my laptop, and using the LED board as a status board. In this case it’s connected to the phone as a power source (any USB-C power source works!)

Everyone say hello to Magnus! My agents alert me through a Neopixel ESP-32. Magnus is one of the agents, you can see there’s 2 active agents in this video - 1 per row. Going to push this code up over the next couple of days, and your agents can do this too!

I just asked if something was "on a talk track for tomorrow?". Now I'm going to have to circle back with myself, and then I'll have to loop back and double down to ensure there's alignment. *send help*

My local library (funded by taxes, in a quite progressive municipality) is asking for donations to improve their services. I’m a library fan! I’m a library user! I already pay taxes! I’m *not* frustrated with their request, I *am* frustrated that taxes don’t cover this service enough already.

I will never understand people driving cars while drinking out of a ceramic cup with a handle - like the usual coffee cup you use at home. How does this drink not spill on bumpy roads, sudden braking, going uphill or downhill? I have questions!!!

This is correct historically but I think it’s worth questioning the assumption moving forward. Code half life is much shorter now. Models can afford to treat it as temporary and living in a way humans never really could. I expect this has major implications for best practices.

Code that works at a point in time is mostly uninteresting. What matters is building structures to ensure code stays correct over time. That to me is the essence of engineering in software

Bring back guitar playing dancers. It’s time.

28 years of R.E.M.'s Daysleeper 😌✨️✨️ (released Oct 12, '98 uk // Oct 13, '98 us) [🎥: Late Show with David Letterman, Oct '98] @remhq.bsky.social

Randomly discovered during the week that if you have an Alexa device – you can place calls to mobile and landline numbers in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Mexico at no cost!

Good grief. I just want to buy an Adafruit product for $8 USD and shipping to Canada would be *$40 USD* It’s unavailable for sale from Canadian retailers too!

It's going to be interesting to see how UIs are delivered as codified JSON blocks. The screen will become dynamically rendered on demand by AI. We've seen this in Slack apps, Teams, and Tapestry. OpenAI with GPT-6 is going to accelerate this massively. Glad I toyed with this last year!

The latest catchphrase "<Platform> is designed to be the unified [memory|data|knowledge|workflow] layer for production AI agents!" That's weird! Your platform has been around 10+ years. Have you rebuilt your platform just for AI agents? Or how did you know this was coming so many years ago?!

There’s a baby squirrel in the tree in our backyard. It’s been to visit every day the past 2 weeks or so. Decided to name it Russell - does a great job shaking the leaves and branches!

Jira's "updated Description" UI is *so brutal*, I just got Cursor to build me a visual diff tool like Github's PR Review. ✱Much✱ better.

Nevermind that. I just can't believe they found the reference star that is used for the star emoji, and it looks just like it!

This will never stop blowing my mind. A 12-year sequence of real telescope images of a star 133 lightyears away. And around it, four planets slowly orbiting. Four real exoplanets, each more massive than Jupiter, imaged as they move around their host star.

Casually referred to my colleague as "Mr. MBA 2000". He asked for PowerPoint slides, and since we're a Google Docs shop, the whole team had a chuckle (including him).

This is the way. Did we tell people their account was stored in MySQL in the before times? Let the network effects take place after they use their first Atmosphere app.

I think the most obvious "get people to sign up on atproto" is a linktree that is actually good and they don't even know it's a PDS.

Iffff I was to go to Shenzen for 2 days in March next year… What are the best places to go? What are the best things to do? I’d have a heavy preference for anything electronics and/or hardware focused!

I too feel my hackles escalating. This is great!

With apologies to @hailey.at and @aparker.io and everyone who will now have this song stuck in their head for another week.

Wikipedia on mobile suffers from Scroll Roulette. All those collapsed content sections, and you don’t know how long they’ll be. You might be scrolling for a paragraph or a small novella. Solution here is sticky headers - anchoring each header to the top of the screen until the next appears.
