In the prototype version of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Mario and Luigi would have needed to electrocute a living mouse for all eternity to solve a puzzle. This was changed in the finished version to a toy mouse, likely due to the original being absurdly cruel.

This weird-looking game has basically no information on it on the internet. There's, like, my post below, and two Reddit threads where people wonder if anyone knows of it. I recently found a second-hand copy of the game's manual, so I went ahead and scanned it: archive.org/details/tims...

Been scanning comics, and am again thinking of this ad for "Tim'sGame" that appeared in Kalle Anka & Co #2/2005. It felt bizarre to me even as a kid, with its inconsistent, ugly CG art; it combining cards with some video game component; and it having a twice-weekly cartoon(?) that I never saw.

As a child, I was scared of mummies, and assumed they'd drag you with them into their casket, and then you'd just have to spend the rest of your life in an enclosed space next to a dead body. I don't know if I got this from somewhere or just made it up.

Before realizing I was trans, I anonymously asked a trans woman on twitter how she knew, and she said that she "just knew". And I was like (to myself), "damn. I really wish I were a woman, but I don't know if I 'just know'" as if there were some further conditions you need to fulfill

It's particularly weird when it's like, "you gotta buy a second-hand copy of this old game boy color game that never even got a re-release" meaning the only person being supported is the ebay seller. and ebay itself I guess

For @aftermath.site, we're in a boom period for fan translations of unique games that we never made it to the west. I focused on four: Kamaitachi no Yoru, Kowloon's Gate, London Spirit Detectives, and Innocent Tears, and spoke to the people behind the projects. aftermath.site/kamaitachi-n...

aftermath.siteFan Translations Still Are Being Done The Hard WayKamaitachi no Yoru, London Spirit Detectives, Kowloon’s Gate and Innocent Tears are getting their spotlight in the west thanks to fan-translations done without AI.

I do understand the pleasure of hitting a small ball with a stick to make it go far. But golfers really have no excuse anymore since Toadstool Tour came out in 2003.

People who keep pointing out that golf courses use as much water as data centres as some sort of defence of data centres drastically underestimate the amount we also hate golf.

Do normal people in the UK say "Oh do bugger all the way off"? I very strongly associate it with "online bigot showing up in minority group members' mentions to harass them", but it's possible I've just been over-exposed to British online transphobia

Seeing the storyboards for "The Man Who Killed Batman" when I was 17 was one of the canon events that led me to change careers to animation

Daniel Dockery@dandock.bsky.social

"The Man Who Killed Batman" is a BTAS masterpiece. Villains like the Joker and Rupert Thorne struggle to come to terms with Batman's apparent death at the hands of a no-name hoodlum. It's a well-produced episode and the Joker's angry, vain eulogy for Batman is an all-time moment for the character.
