We’re looking for a postdoc to join our Max Planck group in Germany some time in 2026. If you have computational and/or neuroimaging expertise, and are interested in questions intersecting perception and cognition, please reach out! I’ll also be happy to chat at the #Bernsteinconference this week.

Incredible work on paper mills. I really wonder what happened to the cluster of fraudulent editors/authors at PLOSone in the lower right corner? Were there any real repercussions or are they still milling around?

In our article, we demonstrate through a series of vignettes that… 1. Editors abuse their positions of authority to collude with authors to publish problematic articles en masse.

Why do measures of putatively the same construct so often fail to correlate strongly across units of analysis (self/informant report, behavioral, physiological/neural): measurement problems or truly actually capturing different constructs (or some of both)?

I know this site only reaches a subset of neuro/ cog professors. If you know a young professor in the area who would benefit from a week of targeted learning about doing good science, good mentoring, networking etc, it would be great if you could forward them: compneurosci.com/Neuro4Pros/i...

New work with UCL PhD student Max Maier. We develop a risky-choice variant, the Extinction Gambling Task, for studying repeated choice situations where choices are consequential. Max also derived the optimal policies and developed a computational model to classify strategies. Check it out!

Start of term, time for demos! Here’s a #CogPsych one I tried on Friday - Donders’ Reaction Time + Choice Cost with 10 volunteers from our class of 200 We replicated Donders’ 150-year-old RT delay to the milisecond, with nothing more complex than a bell and a stopwatch 🙀 Friends, it was amazing!
