Very enjoyable conversations in Leylands Ward this afternoon. I have fed back the positive feedback on the resurfacing of Leylands Road to colleagues on the County Council and I have also raised issues around street parking near Wivlesfield Station which is impacting local residents.

🧠 It was a pleasure to attend the Alzheimer's Society breakfast and meet my constituents Tony, living with dementia, and his wife Caroline, who cares for him. Hearing their experiences was a powerful reminder of what dementia means for people, their families and carers who support them every day.

🏛️ Another busy day at Lib Dem conference! On Day 3, I presented my policy motion on helping people to age well, joined the JRF and LGA for a roundtable on delivering once-in-a-generation reform of adult social care, and spoke to ITV about why I care so much about this issue. #LDConf

I dropped by to support our Haywards Heath Councillors' surgery this morning in the Orchards Shopping Centre. Plus I got to chat to Paul from Haywards Heath Town Football Club.

🧡 It was great to meet representatives from so many brilliant charities and organisations at Lib Dem conference this week, including Dementia UK, Animal Free Research, Young Lives vs Cancer and more. #LDConf

MPs are back in their constituencies for the political party conference season. So it was good to get out in Haywards Heath yesterday evening to chat to local people with Freddie and Town Councillor Billah. Thank you to everyone who made some time to talk to us.

Head to head with Reform UK's Lee Anderson on BBC Politics Live this lunchtime.

WATCH: @alisonebennett.bsky.social call out Lee Anderson on Reform’s compliance chaos. “What’s a bit rich, Lee, is your Reform team are all over the place - that’s why the Met are investigating you.”

🚜 Earlier this week I joined the NFU in Parliament for Back British Farming Day and its Ready to Grow campaign. British farmers need practical support on planning, finance, food security and resilience. I’ll keep making that case for farmers in Mid Sussex and across the country.

What on earth is going on with local government reorganisation? West Sussex was already waiting until October for a decision. Now the Government has paused plans elsewhere and launched a wider review. People in Mid Sussex deserve clarity, not more delay and confusion.

🎄 Calling all young artists across Mid Sussex! It might feel a little early to be thinking about Christmas, but my 2026 Christmas Card Competition has now launched. Schools across Mid Sussex will shortly be sharing details of the competition with pupils, good luck to everyone taking part! 🎨

📰 In my Mid Sussex Times column, I wrote about my visit to Haywards Heath Foodbank and Baby Bank. Heather and the team provide vital support, from food parcels to baby essentials, with care and dignity. You can read my full column here: www.sussexexpress.co.uk/your-world/p...

🐶 It’s International Dog Day, so it seems like the perfect excuse to introduce you to seven-month-old Rhubarb. Happy International Dog Day to all the dogs, and fellow dog lovers, across Mid Sussex! I’d love to see your dogs too, so feel free to share a photo in the comments. 🐾

Earlier this week I visited Haywards Heath Foodbank and Baby Bank, where Heather and the team showed me the brilliant support they provide, from food parcels to baby clothes, toys and community groups. Thank you to all the volunteers for everything you do for our community.

Free local bus travel is a vital lifeline for many disabled people. After an almost two-year campaign the Government has finally listened to Liberal Democrat calls to stop restrictions to disabled bus passes. Disabilities don’t start at 9.30am. Neither should disabled bus passes.

Tom has campaigned tirelessly to end the time restrictions on disabled bus passes, so I am very pleased that the PM has made this announcement today.

🚌 Spent the morning down at the local bus depot with Jackie Snape, Chief Exec of Disability Action Yorkshire, celebrating the huge win - time restrictions on disabled bus passes to be scrapped 🥳 This change will make a huge difference to the lives of disabled people. 👏 Thanks again Andy Burnham!

📚 A huge congratulations to everyone across Mid Sussex receiving their A level, T level and BTEC results today! Whatever comes next, I wish you the very best. And if things haven’t gone quite as hoped, UCAS is offering Results Day and Clearing support. Well done to all our students!

It was lovely to be invited to The Goldbridge Care Home in Haywards Heath, where I met residents and the team and heard more about the wide range of care and support they provide. Thank you to everyone at Goldbridge for such a warm welcome.

I was delighted to be invited to Burgess Hill Town Football Club to hear more about the investment being made in the club and its future. Thank you to Dave, David and Vicky for showing me around and taking the time to speak with me. ⚽

🛍️ Earlier this week, I had a great morning holding a pop-up surgery on Church Walk in Burgess Hill. Thank you to everyone who took the time to come and speak with me. I look forward to holding more pop-up surgeries across Mid Sussex during the summer recess.

Women and babies at Princess Royal Hospital deserve safe, timely care. The CQC praised its kind and professional maternity staff, but found they are tired and burnt out, while theatre problems delayed planned caesarean sections. The Trust must now act.

🏘️ This week, I met with representatives from parish and town councillors from Fulking, Pyecombe, Hassocks, Hurstpierpoint & Sayers Common and Burgess Hill. It was helpful to hear directly about the concerns affecting their towns and villages, and to discuss where I can support them as their MP.
