Interesting visit to 1973 in my time machine. People want to act as if racism is new or worse. Trying to decide if I will play this in my class for discussion. www.youtube.com/watch?v=85GI...

‼️"[DTSC says it] does not have a list of qualifying facilities and hazardous waste generators have no obligation to notify the department if they take advantage of the new rule." This is what deregulation looks like. What could go wrong, right? 🔥 calmatters.org/environment/... @calmatters.org

Read our letter: DTSC makes a series of irrational and unsupported assumptions to claim this would increase protection of public health and the environment & fails to consider significant risks to public health and the environment from the exemption. earthjustice.sharefile.com/d-s50390d079...

State attorneys general should see to the arrest and prosecution of I.C.E. agents who break the law in their jurisdiction. Lock their asses up and charge them with stalking, kidnapping, assault, domestic terrorism and a ton more. Let’s go.
Arrest and prosecute the I.C.E. agents. Make the federal government defend them. States’ rights and all that.
Of course this is happening. This is what America is- violent af, since the beginning. Y'all just like to act like you don't see/know as long as you can have cheap stuff.
You need to see this: “The show of force is the point. They want these images to be out…The Department of Homeland Security is walking around Chicago with a film crew.” @jacobsoboroff.bsky.social

We are in that time period when people just want to stick to their routines and sorta watch what's happening like it's some unhinged reality tv show or Masterpiece Theater drama. I assure you, my friends, that are all urgent matters that require your prompt attention and action. Figure it out.
It’s clear that neither Congress nor the Supreme Court will stop Trump from illegally using the military against his own people. Many warn this obsession is already weakening the country, while real foreign threats grow,
"ChatGPT-maker OpenAI said on Tuesday it will open three new sites with Oracle in Shackelford County, Texas, Dona Ana County, New Mexico and an undisclosed site in the Midwest. [Also in...] Lordstown, Ohio and Milam County, Texas by OpenAI, Japan's SoftBank and a SoftBank affiliate."

Protect Teen Vogue at all costs. Seriously.
#OpEd: "We can’t bury the deeper, driving forces behind why this is happening. This phenomenon is only possible because of the outsized power that state agents — ICE, police officers, prison staff — have always had to abuse and control women and victims' bodies." Read the full story here. ⬇️

if capitalism were capable of existing without destroying the biosphere then it probably would have existed without cooking the biosphere
A paper in Nature suggests a quarter of heatwave events from 2000-23 would have been near impossible without anthropogenic climate change. The paper also indicates that major carbon emitters are responsible for around 50% of the increase in intensity of these events. ⚒️ 🧪

A high quality conversation about Chi-Town by two of the nation's best. I am so grateful for independent media! www.youtube.com/live/gkPwCoa...
This is why we build our own libraries, including in our heads, and institutions. America is anti-Black. Learning/Teaching is always THE power move.
We found hundreds of examples of federal agencies & institutions purging their websites of anything Black, including: -Profiles of Black military heroes (Army) -Documents on the Tulsa Race Massacre (National Archives) -Resources for educators for teaching slavery (NMAAHC)
Why I cancelled my NYT sub? Exhibit A "These MFs Right Here"
When there was positive economic data under Biden, the New York Times told us to worry, with headlines like: “Why a Strong U.S. Economy Is Making Stock Investors Jittery” and “Inflation Has Been Easing Fast, but Wild Cards Lie Ahead” But when there is worrisome data under Trump, NYT reassures us:

Everything is built from 15-30 year materials, why expect them to last forever? Why land ownership? Why not low cost housing built on cheap land leases that is replaced every 30ish years? Appreciation is a scam. Housing is a human right, not a financial instrument. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SOF...
This kind of action is why I teach history independently, online, so that the state cannot block access to learning. HOWEVER- students have a right to complete and accurate classes IN their schools- they shouldnt HAVE to seek outside sources. We are all fighting together for knowledge for all.
The Department of Defense is banning books, curricula, and extracurriculars related to race and gender in schools on military bases worldwide. So we took them to court to protect our students' First Amendment rights.
