Yay! Bluesky now seems to work in landscape mode on the Android app!

Andrew Werth@andrewwerth.com

Are you talking about the app (which platform?) or the website? I've never really noticed this as a problem. (I would like landscape mode on the app (Android), though! Even Instagram finally got there...)

Very, very funny headlines in this thread... 🀣🀣🀣

Okay, here's the deal, I stupidly bought NBA 2K27 as a digital code on NewEgg.com because I had a promo code, but I bought it for the wrong console and I can't return it. Not a contest, but reply to this post with your favorite Onion sports headline and I'll straight up give one of you the game.

These ArtCraft tools are already very impressive. In some ways, they are already better than GIMP and LibreOffice, at least for the ways I use them. Fast startup, familiar workflows, many key features working properly. Kind of scary, but also, if you are on Linux, incredible!

I remember seeing this painting for the 1st time at the Matisse/Picasso show at MoMA in the early aughts and then painted a study (from a tiny thumbnail image on my pre-smartphone era phone camera). I later also made an abstract loosely inspired by this composition. #artist #abstraction

About the only thing it's good for is to let Grok say things like this:

Julian Sanchez@normative.bsky.social

This was my last straw too. One of his myriad Great Replacement/white supremacist tweets crossed my feed and I thought: β€œHow the hell can I justify donating free labor that helps increase this guy’s wealth & relevance even infinitessimally?”

There appears to be no way to get off his mailing list. Not clicking 'unsubscribe'; not replying STOP; not sending separate emails. WTF?

This is a great thread, though I think he barely scratches the surface on all the crap that's wrong right now...

🧡🧡🧡 I was going to write a simple sentence about the madness of the moment, but I got distracted by the U.S. president’s complaint that he was screwed out of the Nobel Peace Prize after bombing multiple countries, and then he bolstered his case with a plan to execute a guy in a wheelchair and ...

Next up were Serengazer & Estronaut, whose spacey set included a protest song, Protocol, and a cover of King Crimson's 21st Century Schizoid Man

Final 2 performers were Chris Jobson (w/ his father Eddie), doing songs from his album plus some covers; and Spock's Beard, who sounded great for 2 hours with a mix of very old songs plus 4 from their current album, The Archaeoptimist.

Flipping back & forth between two #MLB playoff games & the difference in audio production is jarring. On TBS, I set volume to 22 on my TV & get nice, even volume w/ balanced mix of stadium sounds. On Fox, I have to dial volume back to 11 & still too loud/uneven, w/ way too much noise, it's grating!

The next Democratic president should issue an executive order renaming the word "shitshow" to "EricSchmittshow"

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

🀑 Schmitt beclowns himself 🀑 Schmitt concocted an elaborate conspiracy theory that Smith traveled to Atl for a Hawks game and to collude with Fani Willis, & flashed his "evidence" before accusing Smith of perjury. There's just one problem -- his facts were totally wrong. Here's the whole sequence:

πŸ’― β†’ "Fellow journalists: We need fewer 'think pieces' and more 'this man cannot think' articles."

You wouldn't know it from reading the headlines, but the president's downward mental health spiral is the biggest story in America right now We won't salvage democracy unless the media and pols start speaking the truth about Trump's damaged mind My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/trum...

I just switched my electric service to Time Of Use rates, so I can charge my EV from nearly empty to nearly full overnight for about $8. Such a shame (travesty!) Trump has done so much to hinder growth of EV market in the U.S.

Man with a truck, standing at the pump just now, looked like he was about to cry actual tears.

Hahahaha! I'm still not going to root for the Steelers again until Rodgers is gone, but even he realizes what a bag of shit he's been peddled (& been a part of peddling).

Final weekend of my 2-person exhibition ("Cadence") at Artists' Gallery (18 Bridge St, Lambertville, New Jersey), with Larry Mitnick. Gallery is open Thu-Fri-Sat-Sun and Monday (Labor Day, Sep 7, 2026) from 11am-6pm. If you're nearby, stop by to check it out!

PabloReports: What do you make of Trump saying Americans who oppose data centers are backwards and poor? AOC: I mean, how about we put one in Mar-a-Lago? I love that. Let’s put a data center at Mar-a-Lago, and we’ll see how backwards and poor he is in response to that.

Trump, empowered by SCOTUS, entered office convinced he could do insider trading, sell pardons and favors, take bribes, steal and openly flout the law. Now, with the prospect of investigations looming, he is growing ever more fearful that he miscalculated.

I'm growing fewer peppers this yearβ€”and fewer varieties, tooβ€”but still enough to dry and grind into 3Β½ small jars of mixed hot peppers. Should still be more later this fall. Blend of ghost (Bhut jolokia), diablo rojo, red Fresno, and jalapeΓ±o peppers.

Finally got a chance to see my painting, "Coordinated Symmetry" at the 2026 Summer Group Exhibition at Blue Mountain Gallery in NYC. Just two days left to see if you're in the city! (through Saturday, Aug 15). Blue Mountain is at 547 West 27th St 2nd Floor, New York, NY

I know this would be closing the barn door after he horse has been reelected president, but if Democrats win both chambers I'd really like to see a concurrent resolution deeming January 6 an insurrection under 14(3). 1/

This show opens today! If you're in or near Chelsea (NYC), stop by 547 West 27th St 2nd Floor.

Andrew Werth@andrewwerth.com

Happy to announce that my painting, "Coordinated Symmetry," will be in the 2026 Summer Juried Show at Blue Mountain Gallery in NYC, Jul 28-Aug 15! Opening reception Thu, July 30, 6-8pm. (Unfortunately, due to a prior commitment, I probably cannot attend the opening 😞.) 547 W 27th Street 2nd Floor

It's amazing to me that in an age of GPUs everywhere, we can't have live video processed in a way that allows sporting events in sun & shadow to both be seen properly exposed.

This person is talking about FIFA and USMNT but it feels like it could also apply to this past term at SCOTUS.

SO MUCH THIS!

Brian Beutler@brianbeutler.bsky.social

The media's approach to this is dismal. Reporters say there's no "evidence" of mass election fraud as a box-checking exercise. They ignore all the evidence prosecutors and legislators found that Trump knew his 2020 lies were lies. www.offmessage.net/p/confront-t...

Democrats need to start demanding that Trump visit the border so he can see first-hand what's going on.

Elizabeth Jacobs, PhD@elizabethjacobs.bsky.social

Very bad news. Screwworm appears to have made it to Texas, as was predicted. These parasites eat the living flesh of cattle, cause horrible pain, and can ultimately kill them. Yesterday, USDA Chief Brooke Rollins categorically denied that screwworm was close to the border.

I LOVE the rice cooker! It’s the best example of simple physics : it’s literally a pot, a heating element and a magnet. That’s it. No electronics. No sensors. Nothing. How does it work??? Physics ! 🧡

Hot Take: 97Β°F in New Jersey should not be allowed until after June 1. Definitely not before Memorial Day. Never, really, but if you have to, a few days in Late July would be okay.

At Artists' Gallery this month, I have my only painting related to soccer: "Dynamism", acrylic on canvas, 30"x40", from 2012. It was inspired by Boccioni's "Dynamism of a Soccer Player" (1913) at MoMA in NYC. Gallery hours are Thu-Sun 11a-6p; 18 Bridge St, Lambertville, NJ.

There are so many candidates for the stupidest thing Trump has done to the country that it's hard to pick, but destroying the domestic EV industry has got to be one of the top choices.
