Unfortunately if current numbers hold up, Eisenkot can't afford to lose YB even with the Arab parties. If the numbers change such that opposition bloc - YB + Arab parties gets to 61, then I think new things become possible. But this looks like "new elections in a few months stalemate."

The 2024 campaign did not have a lot of fun moments but the manifest disgust that Nikki Haley and Mike Pence demonstrated towards Vivek Ramaswamy on the debate stage was genuinely enjoyable.

"These Ohio Republicans obviously don’t want to lose. But several of them say that one silver lining of Acton winning is that it likely means they’ll never have to deal with Ramaswamy ever again, whom a decent number of them describe as simply “annoying.” lol. Nice finisher.

No unity government with Bibi No soliciting Arab party support No election rematch The opposition is going to have to break one of those promises.

IIRC them Dukes had a total of five adult cousins, none of them siblings to each other, with one uncle to all of them as the only representative of the older generation. So Jesse's five siblings, the parents of all them boys and Daisy... were all dead? And completely unmentioned?

Q: Why shouldn't Alaskans find it insulting that the administration is suggesting they can't read the word 'incumbent' on their ballot and know to vote for Sen. Sullivan? JD VANCE: People are busy. People have lives. People have jobs.

The political media is visibly chafing at the current situation, where Republicans are glaringly awful, fucking everything up, running deviant candidates everyone hates, and Dems are just being normal & winning. The force is out of balance. They are viscerally eager to go after Dems about something.

In fact I will say the Earnest and Pious Charismatic Ethnic Minority political figure (AOC, Mamdani, El-Sayed) has been a pretty good bet for the American left so far, whereas the Disaffected Gruff White Guy Showcasing True Masculinity (Fetterman, Platner) has been a worse bet. Just an observation.

Yeah start insinuating he has morning chai rather than coffee, say that he knocks things for 6 rather than hits a home run, allege that he is generally a clean living good boy who loves his mother and prays every Friday (pejorative).

looked at in longer perspective, it's striking how much this resembles the premodern system of exclusion, rents, and personalist connections, which was--and this part's important--radically worse than the modern system of impersonal rules and general taxation

Boston’s chief planner is a true believer in the San Francisco model, in which you make it impossible to profitably build apartments by-right so developers are forced into a politicized discretionary negotiation with the city, which relaxes the rules in exchange for below-market units.

I don't even much like swearing but Tig Notaro's line, and delivery, "Wow! I just sounded like a woo-woo asshole" just redeemed my choice to keep watching Discovery into season 5. Helpfully, the scene also satisfies my Discovery Bechdel Test: two people talking about something other than Michael.

If you had told me at any point in Lula's 1st or 2nd term not only that I would be rooting for him in the future ... but also that I'd be rooting for his *4th* term, when he's *80*, after multiple corruption convictions... and that I would think it was of *urgent global importance* for him to win...

Yup. Look: We don't know. It's possible that there's polling error that will turn a Dem landslide into a mild Dem win. But people have been underrating the downside risks for Republicans all cycle, and are still doing so.

The most widely-viewed, mainstream, inexplicably popular and long-lived sitcom of the 21st century made a lead character a waitress at the Cheesecake Factory as her "I'm failing as an actress" job, starting when the show ridiculed her as basically dumb and not very competent. It wasn't a compliment.

I'm not saying people in general hate or have contempt for Cheesecake Factory. Obviously they don't. And Obama's joke doesn't require them to. But I am saying that it is not popularly regarded as a sacred site of mainstream American culture that must never be part of a punchline.
