In my mind Kimmel’s not the problem, nor is Disney, ABC, corporate America bending the knee to fascists or even ICE. The problem is that one third of Americans think Trump is so great they elected him twice - and they still think he’s their guy. And I don’t know how you fix that.

I hear No Kings Day was a success. Ok all is forgiven America - we know you didn’t really mean to vote him in twice. And those 38% of your fellow citizens who still think Trump is just fine? That’s only a mistake too, right?

It turns out that the very best No Kings Day protest yesterday was the one staged by the United States Armed Forces in Washington—because if you've seen any of the military experts on social media or cable news today you know that their poor marching was deliberate and intended as an insult to Trump

a side note: this is as frontal an assault on the US by Israel as I've ever seen, and there have been some bad ones. This is Israel blowing up the planned negotiations in Oman tomorrow between the Trump envoy and Iran. This is Netanyahu saying the US can't do diplomacy he doesn't sign off on.

After repeatedly failing fact-checks year after year after year, the Toronto Sun is copy-pasting this 3 paragraph disclaimer to the end of their annual Tax Freedom Day write-ups acknowledging all of the Fraser Institute's numbers they just reported might be "incorrect and misleading":

The line that "Easter Islanders cut down the last tree to move the giant statues" is an ugly lie — they were done in by Imperialism. But "Canadians built more pipelines so they could sell more oil while the country burned because of climate change brought on by burning oil" is the absolute truth.

Clare Blackwood@clareblackwood.bsky.social

The fact that Canadian leaders continue to have "Let's build more pipelines" conversations while Saskatchewan and Manitoba are being decimated by wildfires is just wild to me

Listening to PP criticize the new cabinet, I just hear the same whining and snark. Personal attacks, stuck on Trudeau, blah blah blah. He can’t soften and he can’t change. He is what he’s always been. Good luck CPC.

I never want to hear Americans lecture us ever again about the sanctity of their constitution and its checks and balances against tyranny. Because by any measure, it simply doesn’t work.

The most impressive thing Musk and Trump have managed to do is convince people they’re good businessmen.

Cybertrucks are piling up -- apparently no one wants to buy them -- but they can't stop making them, b/c shutting the factory down is too expensive. Great work all around.

There’s chatter that Carney should call a by-election for PP ASAP and not run a Lib candidate as an act of goodwill. That’s a noble idea that I’m petty enough to reject. Every indication suggests PP would show no goodwill if the situation was reversed. Be ruthless and end his political career.

Poilievre wanted to send cops to disperse encampments and arrest anyone too poor to afford rent, but meanwhile he is perfectly content to squat in a publicly-funded mansion, even *after* he lost the election.

Pierre Poilievre is living in a 19 room mansion with a $215,090 annual budget for his chef and groundskeepers. It is paid by the taxpayer for “Leader of the Opposition IN the House of Commons”. Pierre is freeloading on the taxpayer's dime. #stornowaysquatter #packtheshack
