For 2026 horror releases I’ve read Off the Reservation by @stephengrahamjones.com, Trad Wife by Sarah Langan, and Blacktail by @scotthawkinswrites.bsky.social. These three up next. What a great year for horror.

I see a direct line from roughing up the 80-year-old man in Wolfville to evicting Joan Baxter and Jennifer Henderson from the EverWind announcement to vilifying Paul Wonzey. It's all about delegitimizing dissent.

Was having trouble picking a new audiobook after finishing The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires. Settled on The Handyman by Bentley Little. Tried The Exorcist’s House and Bird Box but they just weren’t working for me right now. Liking The Handyman so far.

This is indefensible behaviour from Everwind. The research done by this reddit poster on the issue is worth your time. The link to the thread www.reddit.com/r/halifax/co... - The Halifax Examiner is one of the last true resources we have for journalism in Nova Scotia. Disgusting.

In the month of September I read 11 books. Only 2 of those were for my reading challenge. Some of you are aware that we recently learned that my father has cancer and is now on palliative care. I am on leave from work while I help him navigate this new reality.

I find during this time that I am unable to focus on reading anything unless the book does most of the work for me or it’s a book I really want to read. I’ve decided to pause my reading challenge for a while and will only get back to it when the time feels right.

Give me your favourite audiobook recommendations. Want to get some lined up in my queue. Looking for books to get lost in and take my mind off life things at the moment. Horror and sf recs great but all recs welcome.

Spending a lot of time sitting in a hospital room with my father and can’t focus on anything that requires even a little effort. Looking for a book that will do a lot of the work for me. Hoping one of these will do the trick. Any other suggestions?

Curious to see what others think of this. I loved Library at Mount Char and went into his new book with a lot of hope. I tried very hard to love it, but I just didn’t. There was great promise here of a more horror filled Richard Adams, but it felt more like a darker version of Warrior Cats.
