On my way back home from APEX Alpe Adria in Zagreb 🇭🇷 Amazing sessions as you can expect and lots of things that I learned yesterday. But most importantly - great atmosphere, community and fun at the afterparty 🍻 Thanks to the organisers and to everyone who came to my session 👍 A little overview: ⤵️

We got a great overview of the capabilities of the new SQLcl Project feature. No better person to present it than @apexconsulting.nl - one of the first to use it for his CI/CD pipeline in production! In my opinion - the way APEX (and database) versioning and deployment will be done in the future 💡

Great introduction by @msewtz.bsky.social! Focus on AI with lots of features now available in APEX, such as Vector Search, RAG and APEX Assistants. And of course - an introduction to the much needed APEX Lang, that should be available in the next releases 💡 ⤵️

Here's the video of APEXLang that Mike Hichwa showed in his talk this morning at #APEXWorld2025 The is massive potential here from easier ci/cd to code reviews to AI trained on the language to tooling as we'll publish the grammar behind when it launches

APEX Lang is a new domain specific language you will be able to use to define Oracle APEX apps This is a human readable language designed to help you build and manage apps faster #apexworld2025 #orclapex

The time has come - you can now upgrade your APEX instances in the Oracle Cloud Autonomous Database to 24.2 🎉 Together with the 23ai database release (available already) - a killer combo in the AI era 🤝 🤖 #orclAPEX #ATP #OCI

Just had to migrate some of my connections from SQL Developer to VS Code (SQL Developer extension). Very easy and straightforward: 🔸 Right-click the top-level Oracle Connections node in SQL Developer’s Connections panel. 🔸 Select Export Connections and choose the connections to migrate ... ⤵️

🔸 Protect the export file with a password to encrypt sensitive credentials. Save the file (e.g., SQLDev-connections.json) to a location on your machine. Ensure SQLcl version 23.3 or later is installed. This is bundled with both SQL Developer and the VS Code extension. ⤵️

While in VS Code, open a Terminal window and launch SQLcl in nolog mode: ▶️ sql /nolog Then store the export file’s password in SQLcl’s secret manager: ▶️ secret set myExportPass MyExportPassword Import the JSON file: ▶️ connmgr import -key myExportPass /path/to/SQLDev-connections.json 🎉🎉🎉

Okay, this is cool: project config -list -verbose Gives you description of all setting, available in the project.config.json file 💡

Hi Patrizia, firstly, thanks for reporting the issues you found in the SQLcl Forum. Have you tried running: project config -list -verbose Perhaps there'll be an equivalent in the doc some day, but that command is your best bet for now.

Having fun with SQLcl - few observations: 🔸 For some reason I had a package that was exported using .pkb and .pks for the body and spec. After I upgraded to the latest version, I now have the package duplicated in my repository, because both files are exported with .sql extension. ... continues ⤵️

Well, also remove the Release lines from the /dist/releases/main.changelog.xml file. For example, remove this line for release 1.1.0 ⤵️ <include file="1.1.0/release.changelog.xml" relativeToChangelogFile="true"/>

🔸 I need to delete a release that I have just created. There is no command to do that. Only way is to manually delete the release folder and artifact. But it's not all - if you have used the "!git tag" option (ex. !git tag release-1.1.0), SQLcl will still check for existing tags ... ⤵️

... and would not allow reusing the 1.1.0 release number. Here are a few tips - use "!git tag" to list all existing tags. If you see the one that you want gone - use "!git tag -d release-1.1.0". Note: use the tag name exactly as listed - "release-1.1.0" in this case. Any comment and suggestion? 💡

Yes, updating the SQLcl version on my macbook is THAT simple: 🔸 Download the latest version archive 🔸 Extract to a folder (like sqlcl_new) 🔸 Rename your existing sqlcl folder (like sqlcl_old) 🔸 Rename sqlcl_new folder to sqlcl 🔸 Restart any open Terminal 🔸 plamen$ sql -v 🔸 SQLcl: Release 24.4.1.0 🎉
