I don't know when's the best time to put up an eligibility post, but I've been wanting to do a round-up of my publications this year because I'm apparently now in my short story era. 💫 So here we go! A thread of links to fabulous fiction!

There's a lot to dislike about the internet. But when my kid wants to know how to tie an esoteric knot, of course there's a guy who has a wholesome YouTube channel where he calmly teaches you every kind of boat knot imaginable and it makes me remember what the internet is supposed to be.

For the post-weekend crowd, my review of Peter Watts's latest story collection. It pulls no punches. (and a huge congrats to the @tachyonpub.bsky.social team for their World Fantasy award!)

Our family got these during peak pandemic times and they are very cool, esp for anyone who likes kit building. A great, detailed thread.

I wanted to write a thread about one of Nintendo's weirder and most interesting, if rather short lived, product lines. Nintendo Labo! It was designed for the original Nintendo Switch. Might thread this over several days. (note the size of the box with hand to scale)

"Devil in the Pines" has just released as part of @scryptidgames.bsky.social Tales From the Cryptids anthology. A lonely cryptid rediscovers a sense of purpose (and a friend) in the pine barrens. Lots of luscious, scenic prose 🌲🐉 (Print copy is a HC, full color beaut, but if unattainable, DM!)

As @mariahaskins.com so graciously said in Locus, "There's so much to love about this novelette." 😍 If you read nothing else by me this year, grab a cup of your fave hot beverage, settle in, & read "Mother, Darling" (@strangehorizons.bsky.social) Neverland. Motherhood. WWI. Beautiful prose.

I had the great pleasure of writing this month’s editorial and, accordingly, the even greater pleasure of being able to put this in print: “This month’s editorial felt like a good time to reiterate our AI policy. To put it in the most formal language possible, fuck this shit forever.”
