➡️ https://l.liberation.fr/3sd

Today's main #BirdOfTheDay theme is #TheDivers so here's a pair of great crested grebes at a reservoir in East Sussex a few years ago.

A wonderful few days in Aix en Provence. I came here as a student 35 years ago and have loved it ever since. Bird bonus: a dozen alpine swifts foraging over the old town one evening.

Sand Martin cutting through the Sussex sky on its journey south where it may well spend the winter amongst the wetlands of Senegal. #birdoftheday #flyinghigh

The coolest technology in a heatwave? Trees. Every tree planted today helps create a cooler, greener and healthier London tomorrow. We've already planted more than 640,000 trees since 2016, and we're continuing to grow and protect our urban forest to help London adapt to hotter summers.

Deep Dean, East Sussex. Wildflowers galore and chalkhill blue butterflies everywhere. #EastSussex

So much for man of the people and self sacrifice for the common good. He's just a money grabbing grifter who happens to admire Putin and Trump. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

#BirdOfTheDay is best photo of May. Not sure this is the best I took but I think it's my favourite. This remarkable barn swallow, a real synanthrope if ever there was, has made the journey from southern Africa to the south east of the UK and was literally feathering its nest in a building at work.

Brighton looking good at the start of a long weekend.

#BirdOfTheDay themes are #Corvidae and #photogenic. I figure this Jackdaw ticks both boxes.

A trip to Paris wouldn't be the same without visiting Sam's for some of the finest jazz vinyl there is. #jazz #vinyl #paris

A long weekend in Paris kicked off last night with food and drink around the Canal St Martin. Sunny, warm, and wonderful.

@alan678.bsky.social theme for #BirdOfTheDay is #woodland so here's a Jay in the woods last summer.

A cuckoo at Deep Dean, East Sussex, a few summers ago. #BirdOfTheDay #ManMadePerch

The biggest story in the world right now is that the president of the United States is a demented old man who takes pleasure in torturing and killing people and is committing crimes with impunity. And yet most legacy media outlets are too cowardly to tell it like it is.

Tufted duck taking off #BirdOfTheDay

First swallow of the year. These small little hirundines make the journey to the UK from southern Africa. They are a synanthropic species that, along with house martins and swifts, have adapted to life alongside humans often making nests in barns, outhouses etc.

As a Marine platoon leader in Vietnam, Mueller was shot and later returned to lead his platoon after his recovery. He received a Bronze Star for valor, a Purple Heart, 2 Navy/Marine Commendation medals, Republican of Vietnam Cross of Valor, and numerous other medals.

Another #BirdOfTheDay a beautiful pigeon #Pigeons

At least Trump can't ruin the pleasures of birdwatching. Not a rare species in the south east of England but it's always a joy to see a Little Egret. #BirdOfTheDay

An afternoon off and a break from the madness at my local birding patch. About 20 species seen including this Northern Shoveler. Almost time for a Friday beer. #BirdOfTheDay

The dumbest fuck on the planet is President of the United States.

Excellent 🧵. The combination of hubris and incompetence illustrated by the present administration is staggering. I don't know how the US ever recovers from this.

Every. Single. Word.

A dipper about contemplating a dip in Edinburgh's Water of Leith #BirdsOfTheDay

What a day difference 250 years makes: Bondi et al covering up for a president and other grubby associates of Epstein compared with a King wholeheartedly supporting an independent police investigation into another grubby associate of Epstein who just happens to be his brother.

Good morning. The President of the United States was in the middle of the most serious child sex trafficking ring of the last quarter century. He is referenced not a dozen times in the case files. Not 100 times. Not 1,000 times. He’s referenced 38,000 times.

I wrote this yesterday about the hero city of Minneapolis www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKOW...

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good. Stay free

British soldiers coming home from Afghanistan 💔 #TrumpMustApologize

A must-watch and rather sobering discussion between @carolecadwalla.bsky.social and Robert Kagan. The UK and Europe need to wake up and disentangle themselves from the US as soon as possible, however due to the lunacy of Brexit that may not be so easy for the UK. youtu.be/0goGamFRtO0?...

FOX: Where’s the protest against the regime that's killing people in the street right now? Trent: They are doing those today. It’s called the ICE protests FOX: Are they talking about Iran at the ICE protests? Trent: No, I think they are talking about the regime that is shooting people in the face

New Year's resolution is to do more birding. Started strong with this flock of White-fronted geese near Lewes. #ornithology #newyearsresolution #bto #sussex #geese

Nice stroll in the sunshine to my local birding patch. Great to see shelduck, shoveler, and teal among others #sussex

Astonishing figures and a mind-blowing act of national self-harm.

📚 Sam Altman, Peter Thiel, Curtis Yarvin…

Some good news from America.

More small scabious. This time on the Wouldham to Detling Escarpment SSSI, Kent, on 30th October #wildflowerhour

Small scabious on the downs outside Lewes, East Sussex. #wildflowerhour

So Bugsy got something in his eye and due to excess wriggling the vet couldn't remove it 🙄. Cue synthetic morphine to chill him out, here he is as it kicked in, result: totally baked dachshund, no wriggling, foreign object duly removed.

Lunchtime pint, Basketmakers, Brighton.
