This is especially true in the United States.

Did you know❓ Many foods can contain ‘hidden’ sugars that can increase your risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and even gout. Stay mindful of ‘hidden’ #sugars in foods and opt for healthier choices.

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world. Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

If your Christianity causes you to be offended by someone asking the most powerful person in the country to be merciful towards the powerless, then you have profoundly misunderstood the teachings of Jesus Christ.

By pardoning the most violent January 6th attackers, Trump is telling them to commit more violence in his name, and if and when they do — he will protect them. We are all in terrible danger.

to recap: — Trump was *for* the TikTok ban — which the GOP Congress passed — and the GOP Supreme Court upheld — and even though Biden said he wouldn't enforce the ban, TikTok shut down anyway — so that Trump could "save" it — and the media fell for it we really do live in the dumbest fucking country

Every holiday season since 1966, the city of Gävle, Sweden, has erected a giant Yule goat made of straw in the town square. This festive symbol has become famous not only for its impressive size, but also for its history of repeated arson. ➡️ w.wiki/_BC2

Establishment Democrats continue to double down, somehow not realizing they're destroying their own party's viability by alienating the Left. I'm afraid they will continue to lose if they continue to ignore voters & representatives farther to the Left.

The fact AOC lost the vote for the oversight committee to Gerry Connolly (because of Nancy Pelosi told democrats who to vote for) tells me they haven’t learned a fucking thing since the election.

This is "rich" -- Forbes posted a "poor me" article about how the billionaire lifestyle is SO expensive & that inflation hits them too. - As if we're expected to feel sorry for these poor rich people while millions of people go without enough food or healthcare & struggle to simply survive. 😡

Being mad about corporate greed doesn’t mean you’re an extremist terrorist. It means you have a brain.

If we forgive student loan debt, what’s next? We forgive medical debt? We outlaw punitive interest rates? We reorganize our economy around the needs of the many rather than the interests of a few? Is that what you want?? A society where human life actually has value??

Right now, the executive class and the millionaire/billionaire class knows we are pissed at them. And they are going to use every tool at their disposal to propagandize us back into thinking other people are our enemies. We can’t dare let their message win. Stay angry at the right people.

Inclusion is a social pact against bigotry; an alliance built by people that share an equal respect to each other's diversity and uniqueness. Tolerance to the intolerant is a fallacy. They are not part of the pact, by definition, and accepting their views is a trap.

Conservative right-wing Christians who scorned the idea of a "President Trump" in 2015, turned around and embraced him as "the most Christlike President ever" in 2016. 🤯 The flip was astounding to witness. Their 2015 selves would be HORRIFIED at their terrible transformation in 2016.

5 years ago, I read "Frauen" by Alison Owings. I was chilled by the sheer number of parallels I saw between National Socialist Germany & MAGA America. Now, I'm rereading the book, & I see even more parallels between then & now. We have every right to be alarmed. #Resist

I find it literally impossible to get my head around the American attitude to health care & guns A country that is happy to send 5 year olds to school with bullet proof backpacks & then not to provide free health care if they get shot? No words

"When you're 1% of the population, it's very hard to see how the democratic process will protect you" was quite a statement at the court after the TN attorney argued that the equal protection should be declined in favor of “the democratic process.”

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism. We have to sustain each other. Making joy isn’t denial, it’s how we will survive

I don't know who needs to hear this, but "owning the libs" is NOT acceptable criteria for selecting members of a Presidential cabinet that will affect the lives of millions. Picking family members, sex offenders, and Russian assets is proof that trump remains a threat to America.

If the ACA is ever replaced, it NEEDS to be replaced with single-payer truly universal healthcare. #MedicareForAll

trustwomen.bsky.social@trustwomen.bsky.social

The ACA and the protection for pre-existing conditions literally saved me from bankruptcy and death. The Rs talked a lot about “repeal and replace” NOTHING! Save the ACA, or create Universal Healthcare!

Good reminder. 🤍 Remember to take care of yourself too. 💙
