Nice bit of coding genie marketing--when you ask for a plan & it lays tasks out week 1, week 2, week 3-5, & then 4 hours later you're done.

the id, the ego, the superego And the superego deluxe with fries Placed on fragile egos were too many moral and critical constraints many let superego deluxe with fries DRIVE judgment, planning, synthesis of information, tolerance, intellectual functioning, control and memory what could go wrong

Despite the Jets loss to Dallas last night, I am still feeling really good in this moment about the prospect of bringing the Cup home this year

_pretty_ happy with three Canadian teams in the quarterfinals and maybe 75% Canadian teams coming in the semis and of course a Leafs-Oilers final we’ve all been craving

Fun Marvel stuff with my wife She’ll be like, “who’s her sister again?” “Black Widow” “who?” “Scarlett Johansson” “oh.” Or, I know she’s seen five or so of these productions with Sebastian Stan, and she’ll say, “His name is Bucky?!” kind of jealous she sees a bunch a retains nothing, a gift!

I switched off the Oilers game just after 4-0 to avoid hard feelings (I did manage to catch the Canadiens and Jets games earlier, Round 1 is so rich) The game ended 6-5 for the Kings, I missed a huge opportunity to watch a thrilling comeback for the Oilers. Will never turn off a hockey game again!

Every decade or two, we see this kind of shift in sentiment. short memories, resilient collective spirit, the farce of so-called leadership

IPSOS finds collapse in European pro-US sentiment in last 6 months. In October 2024 50% of Dutch thought the US would have a positive influence on the world; in April 2024 that has plummeted to 20%. Similar drops in France, Italy, Germany et al. www.ipsos.com/en/americas-...

don’t know when it started, but somehow a large % emerged in the back-and-forth with my wife where one of us will quote Tim Robinson’s “I think you should leave” and the other responds in kind. It’s at least daily now. Maybe the most quotable show for slice of life moments?

One time my wife said, I’d really like to see a movie you want to. So we went to see “The Raid: Redemption” in theatre. Honestly, what a good sport she was. We left 😂 but I seem to remember it was because it was too loud, not the violence (but maybe the violence?)

I have superhero media fatigue, and I think most Marvel projects are mid and not memorable. My view is Daredevil: Born Again is excellent and improving. Great suspense, embracing large topics while staying street-level, good cohesion. Works for me, worth a watch.

Civ games have victory conditions Science (explore rare & meaningful frontier) Culture (draw tourists to wonders) Military (conquer state capitals) Religion (predominant influence of faith) Diplomacy (commitment to cooperation & peace) Economic (make it rain) ^ imagine weights for countries

When making a difficult ethical choice, what matters MOST A) Doing what is honorable and consistent with principles B) Ensuring your actions help rather than harm others C) Maintaining freedom to choose and act as you wish D) Finding a practical solution that works for your situation

In chess, the major pieces (queen and rooks) stand on highly effective squares from the start of the game. The minor pieces (knights and bishops) do not, and must develop to active, influential squares. Ambiguous, the king’s proper placement is determined by a constellation of shifting threats.

We ship all our understanding + communication (meaning and intent) Unless we haphazardly use AI code dev tools; in that case, we ship all of our misunderstanding and verbosity (lacking meaning and guessed intent) What could go wrong? Human judgment is key to understanding and communication.

U.S. is largest global arms exporter Defense sector benefits from rising global tensions, increasing export Conflict amplification fueling geopolitical instability ergo increases influence in foreign policy AND defense sales/profits Perverse incentive for an immoral actor to bend conflict to gain

UX / UI made so many gains in the last 25 years, a seat at the table, a say in the decisions. Recognition and impact. But lately, awful. Somehow the voice of utility and aesthetic has fallen in priority and delivery. I’d be interested to learn why

If I wanted to hang posters in a movie theatre, I would consider: 1. Barry Lyndon (75) 2. Vertigo (58) 3. Mulholland Drive (01) 4. In the Mood for Love (00) 5. The Grand Budapest Hotel (14) 6. Amadeus (84) 7. Trois Couleurs: Rouge (94) 8. Cinema Paradiso (88) 9. Blood Simple (84) 10. Rocky (76)

if you had space for ten posters only, I think now you’d need to add: + Metropolis (27) + The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (66) + Ponyo (08) + It’s a Wonderful Life (46) and relegate: + Grand Budapest Hotel (14) + Red (94) + Amadeus (84) + Rocky (76)

best film of the year was Anora, I would also accept Dune: Part Two. I’m not qualified on best actress, Mikey Madison was wonderful, Demi Moore also great. need to watch The Brutalist, will today For best animated film, Flow or The Wild Robot both excellent. I’m sure Wicked will win some awards.

The “After Hours” cinematic universe, (an alternate universe) (at the edge of society exists another AH alternate universe: John Heard meets Catherine O’Hara and sets up “Home Alone”) Anyway, let’s focus on the eyebrow raising Griffin Dunne and Rosanna Arquette please

Imagine if you added features to software according to a steady flow of feature requests. You take a feature request and, to make sure you understand it, clarify and specify what constitutes acceptance of the feature in some detail. In fact, just to be sure, make the acceptance criteria executable.

On 🔥: - maintain democratic principles - recognize bad faith actors who make institutional responses futile - build defensive capabilities before needed - create strong community networks of mutual support - be prepared to actively resist, not just debate - understand power trumps moral argument

As a boy, I played hockey. I was a tall boy called up periodically to face giants who towered over me. If they wanted a fight, there was no reason, it was to be a fight. Sometimes people view craft and honour as weakness, they disrespect the game. There is no choice, you must stand up and stop them.

Wired: Typical democratic advice only works in some contexts It is not possible to reason with movements that view violence as a political tool, don’t respect democratic norms, are willing to apply force, and that build on grievance and revenge

I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again.

I said 2024 was not a good year for film, but it was pretty fresh tbh A year that gave us Challengers, The Brutalist, Anora, I’m Still Here, The Wild Robot, Flow, Dune: Part Two Even Longlegs, Furiosa, The Substance, Caddo Lake — it was a year where crews and creators had something original to say
