Looking for a journalist who covers UK Government tech, ideally with a health slant - any suggestions? I have once again accidentally found a juicy story while poking at data. Sill not certain, but want to get my waterfowl assembled linearly.

Good to see the cPanel have PHP updates ready for some of the unsupported versions that tons of sites are still running on.

New form of shrinkflation, reduce the abv, save on duty, don't pass the savings on to the consumer.

These and the kids at the zoo with the animals mimicking them were most of my dad's algorithm when I saw him last month. All obvious AI to me, less so him.

Anything more pointless than the HSBC trusted list which is prompted every time I purchase something from the same sellers each week?

We’ve updated Kitesurf, our Workers-based browser for AI agents, with WebMCP support, improved DOM performance, and terminal-based rendering. With over 730,000 Web Platform subtests passing, agents can now navigate complex sites faster. https://cfl.re/3T8dpeb #BirthdayWeek

Did #SNLUK know about these?

Also please get me 3 dozen "Andy" mugs so I can gift them to former colleagues who stopped speaking to me

Why does the Amazon Shopping app want to read my health data? At least Google have made it opt-in so default is no permission.

Why the fuck has Disney+ loaded adverts over the live coverage of the Women's Champions League. The game is at 73 minutes.

Being on the Octopus Agile tariff I've seen the jump in wholesale prices. Most of today is already higher than the current cap, and it's been like that for most of August. Hoping for a windy winter.

File under: not good. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Think this is a first for us. During August we were worse off on Octopus Agile than if we were on the price cap. Still better off for the year, and with the price lag to hit the cap next quarter.

For Diana, night before a friend was having a birthday house party and I got very drunk. Was woken by my Mum hours later to tell me Diana had died. Took a while to work out she wasn't some family friend.

For 9/11, being such a trendy teenager I had a VodaZap pager which came with breaking news. Got the alert whilst working in the Budget Rent a Car head office. Manager put the TV news on the break room TV, where I watched the towers collapse.

Me and Heather don't have a side of the bed. We'll pick a side when arriving at a new bed, and stick with that, but I'm not sure there is any logic. It's not nearest the door, bathroom or window.

Whilst it's a shame that the Commonwealth Games are behind a paywall, that paywall is just a HBO sub, so if you've got one already you can watch everything via the app. (NOW TV ents customers can get a HBO account via live chat)

Not 100% sure I trust the modelling, which under FPTP has swathes of Reform here in the East Midlands, but gives Newark to the Conservatives.

Was at Rough Trade in Nottingham last week and their toilets were labelled, Cubicles and Urinals. Expect to see more of that going forward.

Whilst I enjoy a Lounge, not sure visiting 10 different branches in 10 weeks is good for my wallet or waistline.

😔 When they announce the seat reservations have been cancelled as its the wrong train. 😊 When it turns out it's a 225 with seats that are actually comfortable, instead of an Azuma which might as well just have plastic seats.

I understand why on days like this @lner.co.uk need to cancel the reservations on the train, but why not put that on the digital displays above each seat to avoid confusion from boarding passengers.

Was pretty weird drinking a pint whilst in view of the pitch at the Emirates this season. Nice to have the option although personally it's going to be no more than a pint, if that.

Tom Garry@tomjgarry.bsky.social

Exclusive for @sport.theguardian.com: WSL & WSL2 clubs can now permit supporters to drink alcohol in view of the pitch, after a change to the leagues’ regulations. It follows a successful trial. Not all clubs will necessarily do this but they're all allowed to. www.theguardian.com/football/202...

I was near the Odeon with a couple of twenty somethings, when a man walked out saying "I have the power", neither had any clue to the reference, or any idea about the film, cartoon or toys.

Stephen Bush@stephenkb.bsky.social

A thing which is surprising about this film is that its heavy delusion that the Masters of the Universe toyline is intimately known by most people, and that the last film was some kind of beloved institution…actually sort of work for it?

Just a bit of lightning in Notts. Some rain finally here. Worried about the air ambulance flying over though.

I get why there is a delay is getting the Arsenal game on my TV as I use NowTV to stream it. What I don't understand is how Five Live Sports Extra 2 are behind it

Whilst I'm not happy the games are behind a paywall, NOW TV have at least sorted out getting the games for those with the Ents & HBO pass.
