UK media (aside from independents) has some serious questions to answer. "They’d rather gloss over it now, but the UK establishment media were falling over themselves to praise Mandelson when he was appointed ambassador to the USA" labourrightwatch.wordpress.com/2026/10/12/t...

I had this thought also. Like it took me a hot second to go "... oh yes I do know what that means and it's in support of trans women" and I'm pretty online. And even a couple of years ago I don't think I would've known. I'm prepared to bet the vast majority of Strictly watchers wouldn't understand.

🏳️‍⚧️ family raising our neurodivergent son, and right now we’re trying to raise $296 for car tags and taxes. Our car is something our family depends on every day. No car=homeless for my family $amybeth10 VENMO/PAYPAL LINKS in BIO Can 296 ppl donate $1 or $2 $296 left #ComingOutDay #MutualAid

The commitment to DEI only goes so far I guess. Blind, deaf, dwarfism, gay, not gay, black, brown, wheelchair-bound, one-legged, OAP contestants are fine but heaven forbid any mention of trans.

I’d like to know who actually decided that was not to appear … and what their reasoning was? Is it BBC policy or one person’s attitude? Fascists are running the BBC and Burnham’s government need to do something fast, or get Lisa Nandy replaced now.

“Doll” is a positive reference to trans women. It’s a lot like: imagine if the BBC blurred out a “Black Lives Matter” shirt. Think about all that would imply.

Yes, I see that. From a BBC perspective , political slogans may not be allowed, however I have seen a number of instances where this rule hasn't been followed so it appears to be selective, which rightly leads to the very criticism they wish to avoid. Anyway, now I know something I didn't before!

Seem to remember they had no problem with a Terf-y message in Amanda Abbingdon's kitchen (Adult Human Female or something similar) in a VT a few years ago, even after the furore around her being selected. Can't find any record of it now though.

still think about the bullshit response they gave me. Funny how they say they need "accuracy of language" on this topic but then went right ahead with slurring trans women in their news outlets

Well that's not really that surprising is it? The british government is possessed by Joanne's hatred of trans people (because she never came out ) anyone can argue if you want but go read her 2015 essay on what is a "woman" (her very narrow definition of it anyway) you'll see she's just a rotten egg

Protect the Dolls is a movement started by black trans woman. The fact they blurred it out, says a lot. Eff BBC! Support a Doll today 🥺🩷

Ciara says get me outta Kansas🥲@ciarasdiaryy.bsky.social

ko-fi.com/ciara93086 Im currently raising💰 for EMERGENCY🚨RELOCATION im currently being cyber stalked by my ex abuser and have been financially cut off from my black conservative family. I have a job opportunity in LA. I need help ending my lease early (550$) + extra emergency travel funds (500$)

Someone with Tourette's uncontrollably blurting out a racial slur = Left in Someone wearing a shirt that expresses support for trans women = CENSORED I strongly believe in the importance of the BBC as an idea, but the people running it are fucking ghouls.

I don't give a shit if we lose decide Attenborough documentaries or whatever, the BBC needs to be disnantled and abolished. It's not just the News department, it's the whole thing. Fuck the BBC.

Yeah... The BBC has shown it's arse on TV more than enough already... They are just shitting on their own legacy with cruel stunts like this.

This raises some serious questions as to the extent to which the BBC present digitally altered images as reality. This may just be a show about dancing but what policies do the BBC have in place so that this doesn't occur during it's news broadcasts.

they'll claim this is because the don't allow any "political messaging" on their shows, don't let them get away with it, point out the times they've allowed other political messages, support for ukraine, charitable endorsements etc, ask them for an example of another message censored like this

I will be drawing a clear distinction between “not endorsing a political message” and “censoring human rights messages” when I complain.

She's also gay, making it even more important to the BBC to censor her. Can't have the public seeing that lesbians overwhelmingly support us (more than trans people support trans people according to some polls), it would ruin the whole narrative they've been pushing for years now.

I mean, they all *are* political, because the question "who deserves human rights and who doesn't?" is a political one. It's the idea that if something is political then people / organisations should remain neutral on it that's nonsense.

So, I've had similar exchanges to this before and I've never been quite sure what the other person means by 'political'. When I use it I mean something like 'relating to how society should be organised and governed'.

And people wonder why mobs of men roam the streets looking for hotels to burn or lifeboats to sink. The BBC is a fascist enterprise, consistently fanning hate in an insidious and passive-aggressive manner.

"but with the magical power of AI you'll be able to oppress everyone and in real time!" You WILL follow "the agenda" whether you like it or not, seems to be the message.

What I hate most about this is it means somebody knew what it meant and chose to rub it out. I imagine a lot of strictly viewers would've been like, "huh...I wonder what that means?.." and then not bothered to look it up - and they were spared even a tiny moment of curiosity

This seems to be 'doing the numbers, as today's youth with the nice long hair like to say. I suppose I should tell you about my podcast? I don't have one! Hah-ha, you fell for old podcast trick.
