A reminder to all tech bros and AI influencers who don’t want to get political (mostly for engagement) on X The AI industry has ALWAYS been political: - Cobalt mining in Congo - Water shortages - Job displacement - Energy & climate change - Deepfakes & political disinformation

I often find myself in a tricky spot walking behind a woman on a quiet street at night. I know the caution that kicks in, especially when the person behind is a man even more so when he’s brown. I go out of my way to show am not threat still I fail. It's not easy being a brown Asian guy.

Despite what's happening with anti immigration march and all. Leeds city as a whole seemed welcoming city so far. 😊 Joined for my masters in international marketing. 3 weeks and rocking ✊ let's see how it turns out.

AI Overviews in 2025 Harm CTR & traffic, even for featured sites. Strongest presence in informational queries less in transactional/commercial. 80% of users still click beyond AIOs for commercial searches. Branded & navigational queries still drive strong traffic.

AI won’t replace SEOs. It will expose the lazy ones. Those who adapt by embracing strategy, communication, and business alignment will thrive. Those who rely on SOPs, checklists, and autopilot execution will be automated away.

You might’ve noticed a familiar face showing up in profile pictures all over the internet lately… Clippy, the old Microsoft Office paperclip. Here’s how it became a symbol for anti-Big Tech sentiment: 🧵 1/7

SEO tactics historically led to content saturation, low-quality pages, and poor user experience. So, Instead of aiming just to “optimize for AI Mode,” focus on best practices that support your overall SEO and brand visibility.

X has turned toxic. Annnonymous trolls attack for for being opionated on geo global issues. That place makes me not to share many things. Fortunately, Bluesky has offered me a supportive community. Members proactively helped me block toxic right-wing accounts.

Meanwhile, life at home has grown increasingly strained, I feel disconnected from my extended family: my father’s 14 siblings mostly care about money and superficial appearances. My mother's family was once close-knit but fractured after several tragedies, increasing my feelings of isolation.

Despite these daunting challenges. especially around the UK's restrictive new immigration policies I remain determined to build a fulfilling life abroad, away from family tensions, limited opportunities, and hostility.

My initial plan was to leverage my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate to teach yoga after my studies in the UK. However, if the new UK white paper applies to my batch of international students to work only within their field of study, teaching yoga won’t be an option.

The prospect of staying in the UK for 10 years to secure residency feels daunting. I've also heard salaries are often modest, making the long-term financial sustainability of this path uncertain, particularly given the restrictive employment conditions of the new policy.

Feeling stuck, I explored alternative programs in Europe Germany, Czech Republic, Malta searching for affordable MBA or MSc Digital Marketing courses. Meanwhile, I’ve been actively job hunting as backup plan.

Good news is that lately received an unconditional offer from Leeds Beckett University in the UK for an MSc in International Marketing. Although it's exciting, the UK's new immigration white paper casts uncertainty, especially regarding employment restrictions and residency pathways.

I’m openly sharing this here on Bluesky because discussing immigration on X invites racist attacks against immigrants. Being from India and in my early 30s makes migrating abroad particularly challenging. filled with judgment, visa uncertainties, and financial stress but my goal remains clear.

Companies thought they hit the jackpot by swapping humans for AI to cut costs, but now they’re hiring people back to clean up the mess! Writers like Sarah Skidd are billing $2,000 to rewrite AI’s vanilla drive, while coders are charging hefty fees to fix ChatGPT’s coding blunders. Hilarious 😂

An example which shows people tend to lean on others when they can, even when the answer is right in front of them.

I think you overestimate humans, as you are likely mostly exposed to intelligent ones. When I worked at Home Depot years ago I had MANY people stand in front of an end cap like this and ask “what’s the price?” Most people are as lazy as you allow them to be.

When the agency blames the algorithm but it's just code for "we're winging it."😅

Nikki Pilkington@nikkipilkington.bsky.social

“It’s not showing up because of the algorithm” = agency code for “we don’t actually know what we’re doing.”

🚫 ChatGPT is not a search engine. ✅ It’s your overachieving intern who’s read the entire internet, but sometimes lies confidently. Always ask: “Can you show your work?” #AItruthcheck
