It’s time to get rid of MHA as well.

Gov. Bob Ferguson@governorferguson.bsky.social

Breaking ground today on a transformational project at Mount Baker — more than 400 units of housing and a new early learning center, right next to the light rail station. We need more housing in Washington state, and we're excited to be a partner in making it happen.

We’ve improved a ton on bikes. We haven’t improved at all on the other issue in this image 😢

Love to enjoy a coffee at the crossroads of two of Seattle's busiest bikeways.

How does this happen

Next week the City of Kirkland is poised to advance a rebrand for the neighborhood around its forthcoming inline BRT station at I-405 and NE 85th St, as "the Rise District." Also in contention: the Forge District and the Union District.

Does the loss in property tax income get made up by the payroll tax? I doubt it…

This building in the heart of downtown is half empty and just sold for an -87% loss. What can you do with it?

Check SF … :(

Seattle and Los Angeles rents are still falling but Boise and Reno are lighting up (September Apartment List data just came out):

Many people are saying >>>

Gordon Padelford@gordonofseattle.bsky.social

Stone Way not having even a painted downhill bike lane is a huge missing piece of Seattle‘s bike network. Stone provides a critical connection between Fremont, Wallingford and Green Lake

It’s just really nice! 🤕

I’m excited pinehurst station is opening but did anyone ever figure out why it’s like the most expensive train station in the world?

YIMBY means being for jobs too!

Seattle Council chambers are packed this afternoon with folks providing testimony in favor of Dionne Foster's proposal to temporarily lower Mandatory Housing Affordability fees. Construction workers are speaking alongside housing developers advocating for getting projects back in the pipeline.

This is embarrassing for the city tbh. We had so much momentum out of the World Cup 😕

I haven't seen much chatter on Seattle Bluesky about Pramila Jayapal endorsing Connie Chan in CA-11 yesterday...Chan is an anti-housing, anti-public transit San Francisco Supervisor who supports reopening the park along the former Great Highway to vehicle traffic. sf.gazetteer.co/pramila-jaya...

sf.gazetteer.coPramila Jayapal endorses Connie ChanIn a tightening race, Chan gets the backing of a congressional Medicare for All architect, but Scott Wiener still has a longer resume on the matter

Crazy what simple street calming can do!

Ryan Packer@typewriteralley.bsky.social

The utility closure around 12th and Pike right now seems like a major lost opportunity for street activation. It could be a mini version of the Pride weekend street closures. The street is SO quiet without through traffic on 12th.

We need an SDOT Director and an SPD Chief sooner rather than later...

Qagggy!@qagggy.bsky.social

We had an Interim SDOT Director under Harrell for 11 months and now we've had an Acting SDOT Director under Wilson for 8 months. The sooner we get a permanent Director, the sooner they can align the organization to enact a bold and progressive agenda under @mayor.seattle.gov.

I was wondering why downtown stations are packed right now… yikes!!

Ryan Packer@typewriteralley.bsky.social

Never a dull moment on Link: 1 Line trains were disrupted a bit ago after someone entered the trackway at Mountlake Terrace Station. The system should be getting back to normal pretty soon.

FINALLY!!!!

Seattle Department of Transportation@transportation.seattle.gov

Ship Canal Trail repairs in Interbay: August 27-31. We will repave sections of the Ship Canal Trail in Interbay starting Thursday, August 27. Detour info: trail users cross at the traffic signal at 19th Ave W and reconnect with the trail via the underpass near 16th Ave W.

Ouch

Someone just suggest an addition to the job description: “if you suck at your job, you’ll be eligible for a $750k payout at 18 months of being on the job. try not to suck.”

Gotta do MHA to really make a difference. But still good to see.

The Urbanist@theurbanist.org

At a press event in Columbia City, Mayor Katie Wilson announced an executive order streamlining housing permitting by creating an interdepartmental team at the City and an ombudsman overseeing efforts.

These sort of stories make me furious

David Kroman@kromandavid.bsky.social

My final Seattle Times story ran today and is about how rich neighborhoods’ push for underground power cables in the 1960s/70s has become a $3 billion problem for all of us today. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

Spent all day in Vancouver riding around on a rented e-bike and I gotta say: riding around a city on an electric bike on good protected bike infrastructure is just about the most fun you can have with your pants on.

Always nice to have tech companies in a Downtown versus the alternative :)

Seattle Streets Alliance@streetsalliance.bsky.social

Great day at Google’s Commute Expo in SLU. We met Google employees, discussed Streets Alliance’s efforts for safer streets, and connected with potential volunteers and advocates. Thanks to everyone who visited our table—and to Google for bringing the community together!

Also unclear why “algorithmic pricing” is inherently bad?

Asher@asher755.bsky.social

I’m sorry but until there’s some actual examples of this at scale this is just some slop policy IMO.
