Officially the first person to mention Front Mission 5 on Bluesky. I like robots and games, especially ones that are turn based and where I can make numbers go big. he/him

At last, after 180 hours, I have completed Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave....'s first two acts, with all 4 characters. Looking forward to starting act 3, "The Salvation Arc", tomorrow! I absolutely love this game. Normally this kind of playtime would be a huge turnoff for me, but I can't stop playing!

Today on reddit I have seen several people claim "AI doesn't make simple factual mistakes", and someone else claim "AI has been used in game development since the 1980s" I fear the brain rot is terminal

This may sound harsh, but I think all the people cheering on the closure of Bioware because they didn't like Dragon Age Veilguard "because woke" should be lined up in front of a wall and [deleted at the insistence of this user's lawyers]

Yeah let's applaud fucking EA shutting down one of the best and most storied development studios in the industry because they made a game with a non-binary character You absolute fucking ghouls. Fix your hearts or [lawyers again!]

Save this. Spread it around. Don't let EA live down the fact they looked at this and then did what they did right before N7 day, when this was likely gonna be shown. Fuck EA forever and always. Utterly reprehensible publisher, worst in all of gaming history. FUCK you. ALL of you #MassEffect #Bioware

I love that literally my first response to Star Wars Galactic Racer was finding Biddy Blas and going "I don't know what this weird l'il guy's deal is but I love him" (Message chain with @tainkirrahe.bsky.social from the day the game came out)

Microsoft, Sony, EA, purchasing video game heritage. Forcing them to chase trends away from these studios’ strengths and then being surprised when those games do not connect with the game buying public. Billions spent, line didn’t go up. Close studio. How do they keep their jobs?!

Consolidation is killing our industry. The Gamergaters who make money off the rage game will have you think this is a victory. This is purely a loss. A loss of work and art and fun and expression in a space that desperately needs it. Massive fucking bummer.

Notable that after the Saudi buyout, EA shutters the dev studio known for making "woke" games

At long last, we have created a way for you to take away Nikki's free will, from the classic horror movie "don't take away Nikki's free will"

why do we bash "dead beat" children for not being there for their parents but we never question if the parent has bad vibes? or if they're just unpleasant to be around?

This is a quietly metastasizing moral panic

Funny AF watching the fallout of Sony’s “digital only” edict resulting in all the leaps in PlayStation5 emulation and jailbreaking. I saw this elsewhere and it sums it up haha

My personal conspiracy theory is that the AI enshittification of the internet is a feature, not a bug. The internet enables regular people from different cultures to communicate freely and widely share information outside of establishment control. This scares the shit out of the establishment.

It's pretty plainly why Musk bought Twitter: that had been a huge platform for leftist organising in the runup to the 2020 election, so it was a threat that had to be dealt with. But they can't keep doing that: people will just move elsewhere. So the only solution is to fuck up the entire internet.

Within a few years the internet will be so overrun by AI slop, feeding on itself to create further AI slop, that it will be all but unusable outside of a handful of carefully controlled megasites. "Flooding the zone with shit", but the zone is the entire free internet.

I've said it before, but 2020 seemed to be the inflection point that broke a LOT of rich people's brains. BLM was massive, not just in America but globally, and I firmly believe that Trump was "meant" to win that election but online organising and campaigning outweighed the fix.

The fact that it's an obvious trick from a known snake oil salesman is a legit reason to think this is not "extremely cool shit". He's got an almost certainly hollowed out shell of a car and got it to fall slightly slower than gravity, but is selling it as a "flying car", and you're falling for it.

Alex Hern@hern.bsky.social

do think there's a danger of looking at extremely cool shit like a car driving upside down then doing a kickflip before landing, and convincing yourself it's actually lame because the guy funding it is a white supremacist

The thing I keep coming back to about this is: Even if we take Musk out of the equation, and assume everything shown is legitimate: It doesn't fly! It doesn't even hover! It just falls slowly! For quite a short time! I get that investors are stupid but how are actual people falling for this

"The first release is light on features" do you think maybe that might have something to do with why it loads faster?

new Epic Games Launcher in preview - "Programming is hard. So, instead of doing that, we vibe coded a new Epic Games Launcher that’s way faster and more responsive than the current one, and has a new look." store.epicgames.com/news/epic-ga...

*a few months later* Wow, programming sure is hard but thanks to AI we brought back most of the features you know and love! You might notice that the launcher loads a little slower now, though...

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

I think this sounds like a movie I really won't enjoy, BUT I also hope they don't change it. Trying to claw it back this late will only lead to a worse mess. If it's going to be bad, at least let it be bad with a consistent vision and a soul.

Just finished watching Lanterns season 1. It's almost miraculous how well it works as a standalone story, while also sewing so many seeds for the future. I really hope we get a season 2, though it will almost certainly be very different from this one if we do!
