And by the way, this song would qualify for next month's 5 Cover Songs theme: #5CoverSongsTrick. The trick is to post a cover that significantly reinterprets the original. The treat, as always, will be sampling and reveling in all the wide-ranging music that you all share over five days!

#EdwardGoreyMusic #MusicChallenge Day 27 - “ ‘I am the Bahum Bug,’ it declared.” - from The Haunted Tea Cosy "The Big Ol' Bug Is the New Baby Now," The Flaming Lips youtu.be/wM23ynZhDic?... (Of course, you really ought to play the 4 constituent tracks simultaneously from 4 separate speakers.)

And here's a song about this very town and cold-blooded murder that goes on my Halloween playlist every year.

#5CoverSongsTrick #MusicChallenge Day 1 "Creep," Scala & Kolacny Brothers (covering Radiohead) You probably remember watching THE SOCIAL NETWORK trailer and saying to yourself, "Huh, that sounds like a Belgian women's choir reinterpreting an alt-rock anthem as a gorgeous choral anthem."

I say this with some affection for an aging venue & the good souls who live there, but if McMorran Arena in Port Huron is the best that Trump can do, then his rally game really has tanked. This is where B-list country stars performed 20 years ago, plus it's deep-red, safe, inconsequential territory.

#CountryRockSunday "Mama Tried," The Everly Brothers (1968) Ah, those wonderful close harmonies applied to some Haggard. My extensive research (30 sec. on Wikipedia) informs me that upon its release Rolling Stone declared ROOTS a prime example of "the so-called country revival now sweeping rock."

I fell off the #CountryRockSunday boat for a few weeks, but I’m back! In a chronological playlist, there’s gonna be a lot of Gram Parsons at the top. Within 5 months(!) of International Submarine Band’s debut, he’d taken The Byrds from jangle to twang. “You Ain’t Going Nowhere,” The Byrds (1968)

Love this GOP midterm strategy of laundering a claim about the Dem candidate lying about some personal happenstance from 30-40 years ago, not bothering to figure out whether there is relatively easily obtainable evidence showing your claim is false, and telling voters not to trust liars.

Still hoping to add several more. I have a lot of additional tunes from 1988 that I love, but I won't nominate an album unless I've listened to the full thing at least once in my life. Tune in the Powerpoint Party to hear me explain why Beetlejuice, The Bears & ДДТ deserve your consideration.

Am I to understand that there is SO much corruption right now that "a Turkish oligarch married to a top DOJ official laundered $17M via the Congolese gov't, a TX defense contractor & Kennedy Center slush fund in a pay-for-access scheme run by a top State official who embezzled it" is barely a blip??

#readandplay (832) #MusicChallenge #MusicSky "Chocolate," The Smothers Brothers I think my favorite of many hilarious bits in this is when Tommy says it was a 30-foot vat and Dick asks, "30 feet across?" and Tommy says, "No, deep, 30 feet deep, full of chocolate."

I post about this 2002 album often, but only because every track is—ahem—killer. A selection of murder ballads by Jon Langford's alt-country side project & guest vocalists, in this case the co-founder of indie label Simple Machines, in support of a then-unrealized Illinois death penalty moratorium.
