THEY ARE NOT POWERLESS TO STOP HIM! Go back to Washington, stand on the steps of the Capitol and demand Johnson and Thune recall the House and Senate, and impeach him. THIS IS HOW IT IS SUPPOSED TO WORK! THERE IS LITERALLY AN INSTRUCTION MANUAL! (It's called the Constitution.)

Jon Cooper@joncooper-us.bsky.social

Republican lawmakers are incensed about Trump's dismissal of Ukraine — and powerless to stop him. That frustration hit a new peak on Monday as they sought to address Trump’s decision to purchase Russian diesel, waive sanctions on Moscow, and potentially stop sharing intelligence with Ukraine.

I'm dying laughing at how the cat has conformed to her flower shaped bed today

Today was another one of those rides where somehow 3/4 of the loop was against the wind. I’m sure It has nothing to do with insufficient sleep last night. #bikesky

Dehumanization is always how people have given themselves permission to commit atrocities against other people. If you can convince yourself the other person isn’t human, you might think just about any action can be defended or excused.

If you‘ve studied history, you know what Trump and his fellow fascists are doing in Minnesota. They’re calling Somali Americans “garbage” and “enemy combatants“ because fascists need to create enemies and foment hate to excite their sick supporters.

Talos Principle / 2 Horizon: Zero Dawn / Forbidden West (replay) Silo Children of Strife (and the three before it) … Am I on a post-apocalypse jag, or am I just grooving to the zeitgeist?

This should be featured in ads for the DNC. Every GOP congressperson should be asked about this on camera.

Trump pays tribute to Medal of Honor recipients: "The thing I really want is I want is, myself, a congressional Medal of Honor. And I've studied it. I'd give it to myself, I'd have no problem, but I'm not allowed to."

What if we just treated other people well? Fairly? Justly?

David Roberts@volts.wtf

For a certain kind of white man, there is no fear more primal than the fear that the people they have abused will gain power and treat them the same way.

I read an article this morning that said “we are mourning in future tense” and that hit hard. Watching everything happen around us in real time is hard enough, but knowing that it’s going to be a long road to hopefully put it all back together is even harder.

My #adhd self: I'll remember this. I don't need to write it down. My wiser self (occasionally remembering to speak up after years of getting burned):

Not my calmest ride ever. * Near wreck with another biker when we both took the same corner at speed, 'cept he was going the wrong way. I only had time to belt out "HEAD UP!!" He only laughed. Dick. 1/

I'm probably forgetting some. There's a gulf between catharsis and fun sometimes. It probably did me some good to vent my overall stress and frustration into something, but I can't say I enjoyed the process. 5/5

Not my calmest ride ever. * Near wreck with another biker when we both took the same corner at speed, 'cept he was going the wrong way. I only had time to belt out "HEAD UP!!" He only laughed. Dick. 1/

* Multiple cars, trucks, dumpsters parked in the bike lane along the way, some next to high-speed traffic. A couple road work signs for good measure. * At least one car putting a tire across the bike lane line. 2/

* One stopped at the light with one side in the bike lane. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" as I rode past. They were waiting for the light to turn so they could complete their (legal) turn across the bike lane with no signal. "USE YOUR SIGNAL!!" I have no idea what they replied. 3/

Out of sight, out of mind: I don't usually put ice in my drinks, so I don't mess with ice trays / makers. A few weeks ago, the day was hot enough that I put an ice tray in the freezer. And, because we haven't invented transparent freezer doors yet, I promptly forgot. #ADHDlife

That same evening when it was still hot, did I remember I had ice? I did not. Yesterday, weeks later, when it got brutally hot *again*, did I remember? I did not. But it's cooling off today, so of course I found it today. #ADHDlife

My usual ride has a blind left-hand turn on a one-way street. When there, I'm always watching for a car going the wrong way because sometimes there is. What there hasn't been, up to now, is a goose. No, no incident, just surprise. Yes, the damn thing tried to charge me anyway. #bikesky

People who spiral out overusing LLM chatbots are really just experiencing the kind of brain-damaging stream of unconditional validation that’s always been the norm for the hyper-wealthy, which explains a lot.

Jon Hendry@jonhendry.bsky.social

Worse than Twitter, private discussions (text, email, whatever) among like-minded wealthy lunatics who are all surrounded by yes-men who talk like ChatGPT in maximum ass-kissing mode.

This was a stupid thing for Palantir to publish. It’s one thing for the CEO to say things like this (hear me out). It’s a whole other thing for the *company* to say “Everyone here believes these things.” Employees must now choose between tacit agreement with overt racism and leaving.

elia ayoub@ayoub.bsky.social

Palantir put out the most cartoonishly evil statement possible. They’re so arrogant and self-confident they don’t seem to believe their fascistic plans can be opposed. We must get rid of Palantir altogether. twitter-thread.com/t/2045574398...

I feel sick to my stomach waiting around to see what atrocity Trump has in mind for the people of Iran this evening. It's hard to fathom our other elected leaders aren't able to check him in any meaningful way. It's an indictment not just of voters but of our whole system. We're ruled by a mad king.

As the husband of an Iranian woman, as an American, and as a human being, I’m honestly not sure how much more of this I can stand.

Peter Sagal@petersagal.bsky.social

This is the lead in a news story in a major American newspaper: “President Trump threatened to wipe out the entirety of Iranian civilization if Tehran doesn’t cede to his demands by 8 p.m. Tuesday.” www.wsj.com/livecoverage...

“I will NOT sacrifice the Oxford comma. We've made too many compromises already; too many retreats. They assimilate the em dash and we fall back. They capture ‘not just X but y’ and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further!”

Republicans in the House and Senate: impeach and convict and remove this deranged man. You have blood on your hands already and you are about to have a lot more. Trump is destroying this country and he’s not stopping there. You cowards. You worthless power-hungry cowards.

Trump says to Iran “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one.” He says “Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell.” He adds “Praise be to Allah.”
