I met Walter at a convention in Brisbane in the late 90s, he was a really humble and unassuming man despite being obviously well known. He was fresh from playing Bester in Babylon 5 and he made me wonder if he was really PsyCorps! Vale Walter.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

If Albo is serious about turning down the temperature he will finally take himself and his government off X. If he doesn't, he's not serious.

It's not some amorphous "Australians" creating the hostile environment. It's a specific bunch of political actors. Who, BTW, are inexplicably treated as untouchable by media and mainstream politics.

Everyone is letting ON and Advance and others get away with bad behaviour. They've spent years shouting that everything not-them is not legitimate. That is the soil hate thrives on.

I do not want to see this country follow the USA into a full blown kleptocracy. I'm over rudeness, racism, bigotry and cravenness being framed as a virtue. "Please explain" should be followed by listening to educated answers, not as a catch phrase for the dimwitted. Grow up, Australia. #auspol

Just ridiculous, yet Minns remains likely to win government again.

In the last 48 hours, Trump has invented an energy ceasefire deal between Russia and Ukraine, pretended that much of this year’s energy price surge is not because of his reckless war on Iran and cut a side deal to funnel billions to Russia for sanctioned diesel. Not a friend. End AUKUS.

Here's 9 "grails" I own on #vinyl. Pretty nice representation from nearly 25 years of collecting. AMA. #vinylsky #musicsky #vinylrecords #jazz #rock

Scored an original AU pressing of the Stems' debut album today! Happy with that. #musicsky #vinyl #aussie

High Court verdict cited former chief scientist, Penny Sackett’s estimate that the Mount Pleasant extensions would be “one of the 650 largest greenhouse gas emitting projects or collective human activities in the world over industries including energy, transport, agriculture, and urban development

Only Techbro assholes could come to the conclusion that there is no paid physical labour to explain why gyms exist.

the tech industry is about to invent books

About time. You can’t really point to another major party that has clear policies that benefit marginalised groups. It’s long past due that the electorate recognised this.

“A new YouGov poll has the Greens in Victoria on a new high at 18%. Nationally, 36% of young people say they’ll vote Green. Our vote is also higher among women, renters and working class people. We’re cutting through.” #auspol

Daylight savings did not fool me this year. Up at 6:30 (5:30), shower, took dog for a walk. Saw the markets setting up. Bought take away coffee for two. Settling in to breakfast and admiring the sunshine.

For all the stuff I complain about on here, I would like to throw kudos at a most unlikely recipient: Aus Post. They have been consistently getting small parcels from Brisbane delivered to me on the NSW far south coast *within* 4 days. If it reaches the ‘Gong, it arrives next day every time. Kudos.

Apt and ironic

The White House accord on AI that was signed by all the big tech oligarchs today misspells United States as “Unites States.”

This is a scarce UK 4th stereo pressing (63/64), however it has the YEX 94-1 / YEX 95-1 matrices, which is the same as the ultra expensive gold/black label1st/2nd pressings. This one is from the "GM"/"L" stamper (14th/8th). It also comes in a 1st pressing sleeve with intact seams, I paid $95 VG+/VG

BREAKING: "The Coalition remains thoroughly unelectable" #auspol

Here’s something we’re not seeing in the datacentre/AI debate. Australia is remote, even by Internet standards. With continuing data sovereignty requirements (globally) where’s all this DC workload going to come from? A country with a population of around 26m people? With our latency? The pacific?

The most likely consumers of DC workloads in Australia is going to be Australians. Just how many DCs do we actually need? This stinks.

Albanese is the same muppet who thinks regularly enacting “world first” legislation is a good thing. Maybe sometimes we should sit things out and be opportunistic in the aftermath? No, we’re governed on balance, by idiots. #auspol
