After being 5 days in office for nearly two years, we’ve grown to the point of not having enough desks. So we get to go back to 4-day hybrid! (At least until your new office opens in 2028).

Got an email that Capcom got hacked with some customer information being taken. Given the timing of the incident (10/19), wouldn’t be surprised if it was PHP related. I appreciate actually receiving a prompt notice if a breach for once.

Mark Rober is doing a show at the Boston MoS this weekend, and we lucked into being able to snag tickets. Word has gotten around the elementary school that my daughter is going; I think it's made her a little cooler in the eyes of peers, because no one else was able to get tickets at our school?

Currently in a fight with insurance about coverage for our rabies vax. Called and got approval for the location before we got the shots. But they denied it as “out of network”. Total bill for the family is ~$7k.

Imagine how relieved Anthony Scaramucci must be, to no longer have the shortest tenure in history as press secretary.

Sitting next to a tech bro in the airport who is on a call with one phone, and has a SECOND phone on which he’s busy scrolling social media.

Arrived in Bengaluru. Though it’s nearly 2am and dark, the contrast to Mumbai is striking. So much more greenery. The streets seem thoughtfully planned out instead of cramped and winding. There’s a new metro line under construction above the highway.

While my experience in Mumbai has been great, the daily air quality is pretty bleak. AQI is currently 208, and that’s not abnormal. Weather is just just “smoke” or “haze” unless it rains.

My team is enjoying my adventurous palate. An array of stuff from the evening “snack” time. The round bowls are chaat, the long tube is a dosa, the fried bunches are pakora, and the dish with the roll… I don’t recall the name. All tasty!

I may post a lot more than usual during this trip. Usually when traveling I don’t post until I return, to not call out that we have an empty house. But I’m the only one away! But also I’ll be working most of the time.

There appears to be some sort of film set outside my hotel room? They’re using a loud speaker, which would have been annoying if I were able to sleep in.

Apparently I’ve walked TWO miles in Heathrow to get from the arrival gate to the departure gate. And rode two different shuttle buses. 🙄

Heading to Mumbai (for work)! It’s going to be a nearly 19 hour journey. Will finally have some time at least to catch up on some video games—at least those that will run on my ancient laptop!

Though I am not surprised, I am still amazed at how much more deference is given to a white man when he simply puts on a suit jacket.

Tree came down on our street, only a few doors down. Currently resting ON THE POWER LINES. (Which has saved the house behind it). We might lose power at any time…

Went to CVS for a Covid vax. They said no walk-ins because they are full. So I opened the app and booked an appointmentment for 8 minutes later. They said no, they wouldn’t honor it because they are full. 🙄

Successfully finished, despite a flat tire. Final time 2:18:52. Did much better on my run than I expected. Room to improve on the swim. Timing print outs were cheeky.

Arrived early to work this morning (normal for me on Mondays), and there wasn’t another soul for 20 minutes (a first). Returning from vacation it had me worried I missed some news or had my calendar wrong…

Trip was to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, staying with my mother and step father. Their cottage is ~500 ft above the ocean, overlooking a step hill down to the ocean. The view was breath taking every time I looked out.

Back from vacation. Our garden exploded over the week! Enough tomatoes for sauce (and plenty more coming). And these are the berries I rescued from the kids for a photo.

This guy’s job is to drive trucks off of Boston’s Storrow Drive after someone hits a bridge and peels the roof off of said truck.

such giddy joy about trucks shearing themselves in half. this is pure hater energy. @reportermatt.bsky.social

[sighing to my wife at the table of a nice restaurant] No no no, milkshake ducks are just for racism. if you're complaining about fascists or homophobes, that's a drone metal orthodox priest guitarist. You don't think it makes a difference, but I'm saying it does. I am not raising my voice.

Optimist: The cup is half full. Pessimist: The cup is half empty. Engineer: The cup is twice the size it needs to be.

At ER for the rabies shots. They’ve done ten other people already today, and have 14 more after us in the waiting room. All for rabies shots!
