I usually enjoy "that word does not mean what you think it means" deep dives and Death Panel is great at it. "Normal" is such a pernicious bit of vocabulary, as this episode makes quite clear. Absolutely worth a listen, either now or when (I hope) it eventually gets released to the main feed.

The only reason folks are talking about the French uprisings, ongoing for over a month, is because they escalated to rioting. The idea that that rioting and property destruction are bad for movement perception is just false, even if your goal is something as impoverished as media attention

Artie Vierkant reposted

Reminder: during the most riotous parts of the George Floyd Uprising the movement was at its most popular, with the destroying of the 3rd precinct polling much higher than either presidential candidate, and it was only after months and years of revision that ppl talk like they werent

In our latest, we discuss the Trump administration’s announcement that it has unilaterally kicked 760,000 people off their health insurance, why they were able to do so to shockingly little outcry, and what it means as an escalation in their so-called "War on Fraud." www.patreon.com/deathpanelpo...

for scheduling reasons we recorded this long before the latest spate of people telling parts of the left to be “normal,” but as I was editing it even I kept catching myself assuming Beatrice and Nate were talking about stuff that hadn’t happened yet

a strategically useful way to think through border policing and detention is as an attack on the infrastructures people need to survive. @silkys13 and @ANaomiPaik joined us at the @socialismconf to talk ICE, counterinsurgency, care, abolition, migration, and what tf is to be done❤️‍🔥

one of the hardest strategic questions we routinely face is how to organize across/in spite of real material conflicts of interest without denying that they exist. I really enjoyed having @gabrielwinant.bsky.social back on to talk about gerontocracy, class, age, care & what mass politics requires

Wild that I spent ~15min at the end of this episode walking through a causal chain of how the Trump admin was using AI to set a process in motion ending in people losing their health insurance — and today they basically said they’ve done just that but without all the extra steps

You should read the report (link in thread). This is not just police repression and fraud. With the evidence of refusal to document ICE excessive force incidents, it also shows collusion with DHS -- via a show of excessive force to intimidate memorial attendees, residents and rapid responders.

THREAD. Did you know that Minneapolis police deployed 101 personnel to a 7-person vigil held one morning at Renee Good's memorial? The cops generated $1.92 million in overtime cash for themselves.

We finally got around to talking about that gerontocracy book
