Not sure how I feel about the new Carrie show insisting that real people in history had magical powers. I get that it's in the fiction of the story itself but these were deifnitely real people who definitely did not have magical powers Maybe I'm just being an asshole I can't tell

Folks panicking over that one demo graph from Next Fest should probs come look at this graph and calm back down. Seriously, Steam's algorithms are remarkably good at just sending slop straight into the abyss. Nobody wants this shit.

just wanted to share something i discovered the amount of games released in 2022 compared to this year has increased by 77%. I use 2022 because that marks the last year before AI really took over the internet whats crazy to me is that the amount of games with ZERO REVIEWS has ALMOST TRIPLED. ZERO?

The results of my drawing board, a special hallway on a new save takes the place of a few rooms until you interact with what will be my final tutorial prompt. Then the game seamlessly transitions back to normal This took so, so much retooling of the room grid generation #indiedev #gamedev

Before, all lights had the same energy/saturation, only the hue was randomized because I wanted consistent visibility. After some testing with randomizing those two in addition to hue, it actually added massive visual variety and identity to the rooms. Now instead of them all being dim, it depends

If you grabbed a prop and tried to take it with you, eventually it would disappear because the room that spawned it was deleted. Now all grabbed props get reparented to a central node that makes sure the last 20 don't despawn or lose their positons

And since the props don't fall through the floor, you can leave a specific item in a specific location, run 20 rooms away and back, and it'll be right where you left it Doors will all re-close though. That's not worth the computational real-estate

This caused an amusing issue where I have ceiling lamps on a power cord that you can grab and swing around, which were being reparented meaning the whole cord setup broke and it would just fall to the floor pathetically. Fixed now

Just saw someone say their AI runs their fantasy football team and I can’t stop laughing. Like, I’m sure everyone’s doing it or something but it’s very funny to me that pretending to be a team manager was so hard that you needed to pretend to pretend to be a team manager
