That’s a lot of podcasts! Joking aside though, this is a wonderful set of news and a sign that there is hope for our industry.

Today we're announcing our $445M Series D and announcing that we've reached profitability. Huge thanks to Eclipse for leading the round, which included participation from existing investors USIT, Jane Street, Riot Ventures, Intel Capital, Friends and Family Capital, and Counterpart Ventures.

I am about 14 more conversations away from actively refusing from calling anything ”OpenAI-compatible API” ever again. Because, as far as I can tell - it’s not a damn standard, and everyone is applying their own interpretation of what that actually means.

Am currently making my way through Turing's Cathedral: The Origins of The Digital Universe, and while immensely detailed on the personal historical accounts, it does go into some marvelous technical and theoritical achievements. Highly recommended read/listen. Makes me secretly wish to be Hungarian

There sure are a lot ”companies” that ”really would like my expertise” and pay me for ”insights into AI”. 🤖 Anyone who’s actually taking anyone up on one of these? Sounds like the more recent version of the email stating you’ve inherited a small fortune, just as long as you input the bank info.

I don’t need a MacBook Neo. I don’t need anything really. But something about it is appealing. It’s calling to me. I was even trying to argue the case with my wife about getting it instead of a used iPad for the kid when she’s older.

Ah. Glorious. This made my day. I love the internet. And Rust. And esoteric bugs. As long as I don’t get them. Or well, that’s not entirely true. Finding them and solving them is _the best_.

Hover typing in iOS is already infuriating because it positions itself on top of the UI element that you need in order to send the message. ”Luckily” BlueSky has that button on the top right, so not an issue in that regard, but it hides character count - so I’m guessing right now. Made it.

I know I can dismissing by tapping but, I don’t know. So far not a fan? Will need to give it a longer whirl though. I do seem to make fewer mistakes while typing?

Hey software gang. You know what’s cool and fun? Writing software, learning things, sharing that learning and new ideas with others. How about we don’t judge people for how they decide to do those things and instead just keep being fun, and respectful peers?

Mind you, this doesn’t mean we all have to get along - that would be boring, but it also doesn’t mean you get to be a complete ass against others either. So. I guess what I’m saying is: Can’t we all just, get along? Remember when we were all excited about stuff? I miss that. Don’t you?

Context for anyone curious: I used to run a vocational school in Stockholm, basically by myself for a long bit, teaching, being headmaster, administrator and well - everything. I had wonderful people help out, one of which was @crisfduran.bsky.social who basically saved me from burning out.

This website, contains a record of every single lecture I held, live-streamed and recorded, including their course material and all the assignments I made. Warts and all but man, I can’t believe I found the time to do this, and this is before LLMs kids! Still a bit proud of this.

Read it why don’t you?

New post: Living in the Inflection Point. On the cognitive overload of watching software change in real time, why the backlash against AI is valid, and why the most important skill right now might not be technical at all. brittanyellich.com/living-in-th...

Nice. This gives some hope it won’t completely get abandoned.

😮 Woah! I somehow missed the news that styled-components now supports React Server Components! Last I heard, styled-components was entering “maintenance mode” with a skeleton crew, so I really wasn’t expecting this. Fantastic news! styled-components remains the best styling solution for React, IMO.
