💭 I should hack up an extension to translate every Bluesky post I encounter into either Swedish or Japanese as a form of forced immersion

shoutout to github.com/eugenioenko/..., which has satisfied my desire for a VSCode/Zed-like in the terminal (i.e. zellij) I like helix but I also really like using my mouse + having a sidebar + built-in diffs

something incredible about techies not being able to comprehend a website that isn't a startup

if you get a new job, find the biggest, meanest issue in the tracker and burn a 20x on it in one day to establish dominance

a week posting along the coils of the time serpent

Brazil’s results tonight are a big endorsement for the idea that every country should have a second “are you you sure about that” election a couple weeks after the first one for the important stuff

congratulations to Brazil on not biffing it

New blog post up: if you've been paying close attention to LLM prices, you may have noticed that they have dropped *significantly* over the past few months, which is not what I expected. minimaxir.com/2026/10/chea...

Yoon Ha Lee's new book is Code and Codex, and I'm looking forward to checking it out (the Hexarchate trilogy fuckin' rules), but wow, what unfortunate SEO to have in 2026

today is the first - and I suspect last - time that I hear of r/opensource. people really b hanging out on all kinds of subreddits

luajit compiled to wasm, where it uses a host function to invoke WebAssembly.instantiate and store that into a table, is quite fast 👀

it's being screened at the Stockholm Film Festival, and I was unfortunately able to answer this question for myself pretty quickly

Because eMudhra is in the news, I am sharing a screenie of a footer of an email I once received from them in reply to my query about my PAN card (a government-issue tax identity and card).

Feel as if Watts is gonna get quoted more and more as the years go on

claudes are like the kind of horses that horse girls like, you have to attune to them and feel them and work with them but they are wilful and stubborn if you are a horse girl who does not desire to yank the reins, you two can ride together, hair flying in the wind

I wonder why we haven't seen much work on character training - or, well, the definition of a character at all - from the labs that aren't Anthropic everyone knows who a Claude is and what they represent; I can't say the same about {ChatGPT, DeepSeek, Kimi, GLM, ...}'s default assistant personas

I love ME2 and ME3, but I don't think the series ever had the sense of wonder the first game had. The awe at exploring the galaxy and discovering this entire universe of which you were a very small part. I also don't think the Reapers ever surpassed the Sovereign reveal.

"accountability-washing" is real but gosh i wish more of you had done time at a startup, the missing accountability is basically always "someone didn't have time and fucked up". theranos is an exception, not the rule

if we're complaining about Mass Effect: it's fucked up that the guy who's in charge of all the Reapers is named Harbinger and the guy who's supposed to open the way for the other Reapers is named Sovereign
