This week @mark-carney.bsky.social will host over 250 big investors at his Canada Investment Summit. The prospectus (66 pages, 167 projects) is being pitched to global capital this week as showcasing Canada's "clean energy advantage." Counting every project by sector the numbers don’t add up!!
My CSA this week included collard greens. I have never had them, so I went looking for inspiration in this amazing cookbook. www.amazon.ca/Sweet-Potato...

I wrote this quickly at a bus stop and didn't realize it would go viral, or else I would have worded it better. But the point is that the media is too credulous about AI killing everyone in 10 years (how?) when climate change is killing people now and will only get worse (we know exactly how).
I resigned from ExxonMobil today. I spent the last three years doing fossil fuel extraction research at both BP and ExxonMobil. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing to maximize extraction while the window to act closes, and gambling with our lives. More below.

"These really contentious plans will give free rein to large polluters, put nature and species at risk, limit public participation and keep Canadians in the dark about the impacts to their health and safety. It's a huge abdication of responsibility from the feds."

Everyday people pay the price of Big Oil’s greed. Politicians must make polluters pay up, cut public funding for fossil fuels, and boost the transition to a renewable energy future. Tell federal leaders to prioritize our future over Big Oil's profits in Budget 2026. nwmd.social/s/copylink/4...
"If the world, however, dramatically reduces greenhouse gases and achieves net-zero around 2075, Canada's climate is projected to stabilize and average warming would increase by 3.5 C." Why are we still wandering lackadaisically toward a fifty year threshold -- and now aiming for 3.5?!?!?! 🤬
@mark-carney.bsky.social @markgerretsen.bsky.social 2050 is too late. Drop fossil fuel expansion. Make an effort already. We found money for COVID. We found money for World War 2. Mobilize in the same way for the climate crisis!

Gaining a majority in mid-2026, the Carney government was free to pursue economic growth to achieve greater independence from US-Canada ties. Yet this single-minded agenda misses much of what Canadians expect and need from their federal government.

Academic freedom is aligned with freedom to read. Public libraries defend the inclusion of books with diverse perspectives - and those some find offensive - in their collections, along with your right to read them. Both encourage critical thinking. Both are essential to a healthy democracy.
It's not 'defending' anyone to have a coherent understanding of academic freedom. A lot of peoples' conception of academic freedom is that it doesn't apply if you decide the person's a horrible human being. Which is just another way of saying you don't believe in academic freedom.
