I wish I had been the first person to say that maybe we should start breakdancing to save the Kennedy Center. He's always been an 80s movie villain (a multi-genre one at that!), so the solution has to be either breakdancing or The Goonies.

I bailed on Spider-Noir 4:48 minutes in. I'm rewatching with someone who loves mysteries and noires , and in episode 3 we switched to the black and white version and it's way better.

Dream sequences are a narrative scourge. Neither plot nor character nor setting is informed best by a dream sequence. It takes an exceptional storyteller to make a dream sequence worthwhile.

At the @cbldf.bsky.social panel today, the fact that the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund owns the trademark and logo for the old, repressive, Comics Code came up. It was proposed CBLDF do a book with artists contributing their ideas about what a new permissive code would look like. #sdcc

After midnight crews were still working to get downtown ready for the official start of An Diego Comic Con today. In this case changing a decorative arch in the Gaslamp to showcase an Avengers Doomsday theme.

I'm heading to San Diego for Comic Con. I'll be checking out some indigenous comic stuff (in addition to the usual SDCC nonsense and fun). I'll also be posting amazing photo content here and on Instagram, like this one from 11 years ago: a real Comic Con water fountain!

"Here at Freezr we've given people the ability to automatically share with their network every time they open the fridge. What's more, your Friends (a combination of Freezr+Friends we came up with) can reply to your updates with preloaded quips, a.k.a "Freezr Burns" that will delight everyone."

My books are double-stacked, and sometimes triple-stacked, on my bookshelves. We did a remodel on this house 10 years ago and we added a laundry room (instead of a library just for me) and I'm starting to think we could have just been going to the laundromat this whole time.

What did you do today? The barbershop quartet I joined last month just won the Novice Quartet competition for the Nor Cal West division of the Far Western District of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Not a bad Saturday.

In order to carry out my sworn duty as the head of the executive branch of this parking lot, I have signed an executive order declaring Skee-Lo to be a little bit taller, a baller, and to have a girl who looks good. I further order Skee-Lo, on pain of punishment, to call her.

My teens have been all over the place and eaten food from everywhere, but they still get charmingly excited when I make them "butter rice". It's just rice. But I add a little salt and butter. It's like a novelty dish for them.

I’m the one who has been going to convenience stores and putting “Take a nap, leave a nap” dishes by the register. So far I have contributed to the redistribution of 17 million naps. You’re welcome, you well-rested citizens.

A belief management tool you can have for free is to occasionally ask yourself: "What would count as evidence that this belief is false?" If the answer is "Nothing" or close to thereabouts, you might have some dogma mixed in with your peanut butter.

I wanted to make Mohawk corn soup for New Year's, but I had to do a variation. I don't have access to lyed white corn and I needed to start with a vegetarian base (ham added later). Some of my family in Akwesasne call us the California Cousins, so here is California Cousin's Mohawk Corn Soup.

So many tv shows and movies focus on characters' traumatic backstories, but the backstory that explains the personalities of half the guys I've ever met is just that they saw Scarface or The Big Lebowski in middle school.

People forget the real meaning of the solstice and I just think it's wrong. Today is a day to stop. Today is a day to collaborate. Today is a day to listen. If we are good, then maybe he will return this year with a brand new invention. Keep Ice in Solstice!

I bought a book because an author I respect posted about someone else's book that was about to be released. Post about all books all the time.

Annalee@flowerhorne.com

This morning I saw a post from an author talking about their book I am already aware of their book and when I see them post about it I'm usually like "I should pick that up." But THIS time their post caught me at the right moment and I bought the book. PLEASE YELL ABOUT YOUR BOOKS. Thank you.

Looking around at the DMV, you might think everyone is there because of some motor vehicle or license issue. But you'd be wrong. The real reason they are all there is because they have a cold and need to be around as many people as possible for as long as possible.
