being in the alcs magnified the deficiencies of the team, which played above its level at the right times but was in the end an 85-win squad. yes, they were tragic to watch last night.

but the depleted, run-down squad that lost to the rays is no more the “real” version of the team than the one that stole the alds with bats on fire and the luck of the gods. as always in baseball, the truth is in between.

just like the white sox, this was a roster full of rookies that didn’t have enough organizational commitment to get the pieces it needed to go farther. but since the white sox were bad the last few years and the guardians were good, only one of them can be a “good story”

I have been making and eating dinner for most of the game and only checking in between dinner and toddler bedtime and I think it’s probably best for me to just not look at this one
