Lately a more and more full-time ttrpg game master I guess? Mostly expect video game, movies, anime & general narrative talk. I'm boring like that.

What world are we living in where stuff like this is treated seriously in a legal situation. Before I would take this with a grain of salt, but now I fully believe those managers really were a bunch of abusive, cowardly corporate bastards.

Whatever, just don't you dare touch ICOCA's platypus.

NEW: JR East has announced the candidates to replace its beloved penguin mascot, putting them to a public vote. Some riders, however, are skeptical about whether their vote will matter. The reason for their skepticism has a name: Takanawa Gateway.

God, I thought I was feeling quite well but then I had to tolerate a person I despise for 3 days and I feel as if all the progress has just reversed. Hello depression, hello lack of strength for basic shit.

Many don't remember that the entire Double Fine situation already happened before. Back then they somehow escaped EA. I still can't believe they decided to sell to M$

istg if there’s one thing I learned about game companies it’s to never get acquired, never go public, don’t ever sell out. It always ends with “-and then the parent company fired everyone working there and locked the IPs in a vault” Obviously cataclysmic rn but this shit is as tale as old as time

Film you've watched more than six times Hard mode, no star trek, star wars, lotr, marvel, Disney or ghibli. It sucks that I need to use this movie twice in similar exercises, but I did, genuinely, casually watched this movie so many times.

Jack the giant slayer

Every Nolan movie is the same, where the main character is haunted by the fact he is better than others. He either success but realizing he should disregard ordinary people, or fails by feeling he does something wrong. Nolan movies are not good, just to be clear.

Morgan Jones@morganj0nes.bsky.social

the odyssey and oppenheimer are the same film only in oppenheimer cillian murphy is haunted by inventing nukes and in the odyssey matt damon is haunted by inventing the concept of being sneaky

Finally, there is proof this eldritch being had been molding us to their looking since time immemorial.

You suddenly get a narrator describing your life and there’s no way to turn it off - everyone can hear it. While shopping, at work, at home, with friends - the voice narrating your every move goes on. Who do you hope is the voice of this narrator?

So we're at a point where warnings are posted on everything, probably as a push to normalize AI use. Big question: why do people still use Meta products? They sucked for more than a decade at this point.

Ian McQue@ianmcque.bsky.social

A new example of Meta shithousery. This is a post of mine on Instagram (left). Click the dots top right and this advisory note appears (right). I never use ai, never will. Why would they do this? Who benefits? Are they just trying to make viewers think everything is genAI so they just accept it?

We hoard them because they are never on hand when we need them. They are never on hand because we throw them into the abyss to hoard them.

Clifton B@cliftonb.bsky.social

Also me with microfiber cloths To be fair, I remember when they were a brand new thing and $8 for a small one, so my brain demands I hoard them forever

Is the world finally waking up to the fact that Nolan movies, while incredible from the technical standpoint, are also extremely bland?

The whole game preservation movement strikes me as working in the EXACT wrong end of the problem. You can put as many floppies and discs and piles of old hardware as you want in as climate-regulated a warehouse as you want, it's going to decay. In 100 years, all of that shit is gonna be useless.

I can understand not believing in the importance of cover art for books. it's naive, but I understand. If you do just release your book in a flat colour cover. God knows it will still be more distinct on shelves than AI slip covers. AI covers show you care but believe other mediums are beneath you.

Jarrett P.@notcrucial.bsky.social

Saw a reddit thread from a writer asking why their sales dropped and when someone pointed out their cover was AI, they argued that their writing wasn't, though. Too bad. As soon as you touch it, you're showing other creators that you lack respect for art itself. AI is reputational poison.

Everyone is assuming that GTA VI will be, regardless of anything, a huge success, but with all of recession happening, and consoles getting pricier, do we believe people will actually buy it? GTA V released on generation that was about to end, and had a huge install base.

Meanwhile in this generation while PS5s sold, as far as I am aware, well, a lot of people are rather lukewarm on it. I personally know a lot of people who were holding off buying one until GTA VI is released and here we are with consoles costing an arm and a leg.

Add to that the 80/100$ price tag in a time where more and more people are having trouble making ends meet. I will not be surprised if it 'crashes and burns' in a business sense because every finance-bro expects even more than GTAV.

PSA: This is not a good port. It seems like they took the S1 version and applied higher res textures, but the lighting system stayed the same. The game makes me think of the S1 version of Nier Automata that was ugly as night, but ran on compromised hardware.

We don't usually see each others headers, but here's mine. Quote post with yours (if you feel like it)

There is one upside of SteamDeck price increase. As a Switch 2 owner I don't have to worry about it losing to handheld PCs anymore.

Last year, miHoYo copied my puzzle game Ouros in Zenless Zone Zero. Because they are a recognized, billion-dollar studio and my game isn't well known, some people are now assuming that their version is the original, and mine is the clone. I hope this video clears that up.

Is this the final nail in the coffin of GaaS? People from Bungie were for the longest time lauded as experts (they famously worked with Playstation Studios on their cancelled games) and now the game ends, there are no plans for another one and layoffs are incoming.

Can someone explain to me the outrage being construed here? The game is a crass joke about the single most talked about news story being constantly talked about. It was probably made by a "kid" and played by kids, because of course it was.

They try to work through bad news in the same way as adults - by trying to laugh about them. It's not like Epstein is some big secret and I sincerely hope parents explained what he did that this is so huge. When I was that age 9/11 happened and guess what - we made bad jokes about it too.

Buying a mid-range PC two years ago continues to be the best decision I have made. In the worst case scenario I could sell it for 200% buying price.

I seem to be in a weird part of my life where mental issues + generally getting older is bulldozing all of my habits and comfortable fallbacks on top of which I am discovering my body hurting in completely new places. Don't get older kids, it's not worth it.

"We don't need to demonise it" says a well known actor while demonizing it. This sounds like irony, but I legit cannot get a read on Troy Baker. At least the @eurogamer.bsky.social article seems to read like he really believes what he's saying and does he not see the irony?

@normandyfm.bsky.social in Nier Automata EP 7 you did a bit in the beginning about "cool letters" and were sad there is no way to do Nier with one of those. Here I am in a timely fashion to give you polish "Ń" which basically is the "ni" sound of the "i" was silent. I love being up to date.
