the NBA is full of the biggest and most athletic men imaginable, to the point that almost everyone in the league who is only 6 feet tall has to be an absolute freak of nature who can jump out of the gym just to survive now imagine how freakish you have to be to have a 14 year career at 5’3”

Shams Charania Tweets@shamsbot.bsky.social

The Charlotte Hornets on Feb. 11 are retiring the No. 1 jersey of Muggsy Bogues, the shortest player in NBA history at 5-foot-3. Bogues spent 10 of his 14 NBA seasons in Charlotte (1988-1998) and is the franchise leader in assists, steals and minutes.

blocking just isn’t a super serious thing, it doesn’t have to be saved for a massive transgression “I didn’t enjoy interacting with this person on the internet” is a perfectly good reason now you won’t find each other annoying anymore, everyone wins

Michael Hobbes@michaelhobbes.bsky.social

"You can't block someone just for being annoying!" Those are actually the most important people to block

this remains, to me, the single most baffling thing that happens regularly I know it’s a power thing, but how the fuck are SO MANY dudes apparently sending unsolicited dick pictures 24/7 what is wrong with men

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social

So hard to pick a favorite part of this article. Pretending that sending unsolicited dick pics at 53 was a “youthful indiscretion” is good, but don’t sleep on the argument that his wife forgave him for subjecting other women to unwanted nude photos so everyone else should too

View full thread

what is extra depressing is that this is so common that it’s clear “oh thank god this guy isn’t going to send me unsolicited dick pics” is a point that a lot of women reach with guys that should be worth zero points! that should be baseline!

one of the funnier things I have learned from having female friends (especially those who do actually solicit dick pics from guys they like) is that most men are incredibly bad at taking flattering ones

I mean more power to everyone who wants to send each other consensual nudes but I have simply never taken a dick pic, let alone sent one to a random woman who has not asked for it! what the hell, guys! don’t do that!

honestly this just makes me nostalgic for the obama years, I kinda miss everyone constantly losing their minds over the stupidest bullshit imaginable rather than committing 47 front pages worth of crimes on a daily basis

regardless of whether you think the polls are right, the polls are wrong in favor of republicans, the polls are wrong in favor of democrats, or you just want all of us to shut up about polls, I hope we can all agree on one thing show up and vote to put these dipshits in an electoral dumpster

at the end of the day the only thing that matters is that we have a big number and they don’t, let’s make it happen

research your local elections! the reason I haven’t turned in my ballot yet is that my wife and I are still talking to folks about some local city council and school board stuff! local things matter even if you can’t vote in a national swing race

Ben Novack@titlecharacter.bsky.social

I cannot emphasize how weird/frustrating it is to be in Philadelphia right now - my federal *and* state reps are running unopposed and Seth Shapiro's governor's race is the most exciting, uncertain thing I can cast a ballot for. Like, I'm gonna vote. But.

There's so much else wrong with this stupid lawsuit but on this specific point: despite being "busy" with "lives" and "jobs," Alaskans were able to spell M-U-R-K-O-W-S-K-I when they reelected her to the Senate as a write-in candidate in 2010 after she lost the GOP primary.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Q: Why shouldn't Alaskans find it insulting that the administration is suggesting they can't read the word 'incumbent' on their ballot and know to vote for Sen. Sullivan? JD VANCE: People are busy. People have lives. People have jobs.

this is something Dems can just hammer on for the next two years televised hearings every week about Epstein, Epstein, Epstein make the drumbeat so loud the media doesn’t have a choice in covering it

this is just insanely damning stuff when you lay it all out democrats-judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...

yes, lay the groundwork for investigations with teeth targeting the Republican billionaire media conglomerates in 2029 oh they’ll bias coverage against you in 2028? what else is new, how’s that working out for them in 2026

the reason a bunch of us think we might get a serious polling error in favor of dems this cycle is that a lot of polls, when you look at LV screens, are going “we think the shape of the electorate is going to look like 2022 or even redder in terms of who actually votes” does that sound credible?

you also see massive D numbers in the national general ballot because they aren’t beholden to any one specific race - “oh it’s D+11” is a lot less scary to put out when it’s not two specific senate candidates but, again, is it D+11 or is Michigan D+2? pick a lane!

yeah candidate quality matters and I’m willing to buy ‘El-Sayed underperforms and Hamilton overperforms’ but there are limits and polls have stretched the bounds of those limits in a way that I just don’t believe either MI/MN are seriously in play or SC and KS are, not all four

I think fundamentally what’s happening is that pollsters are terrified of underestimating Rs again and correctly think that underestimating Ds won’t matter as long as they get the topline result right (“I said D+2 and it was D+11” is a big miss but still counted as ‘they got it right’)

another telling data point is that you’re getting really close polling in every battleground, including brand new battlegrounds like Kansas or South Carolina if Kansas is within a point you can’t tell me that Michigan is also within a point, that’s not how their partisan makeup compares

like I just want you all to look at the early voting data, which - basically everywhere - shows massively larger D turnout - and tell me with a straight face this is going to look like a Biden midterm election look at the vibes, look at the approval rating, look at literally anything else

I mean “magically add a bunch of votes to Rs” was apparently a thing you needed to do for the last few presidential cycles but it just hasn’t been true in the midterms, and I keep saying it but polls got it wildly wrong in VA and NJ last year by overestimating Rs

ConcernedSparko@sparkopainter.bsky.social

I guess the argument against is that RV is so screwed up with how many more Dems answer polls that pollsters can't reliably weigh their polls without tinkering with LV....but then that's just making guesses based on vibes and not really polling.

Marist with Jackson +2 on one of the most cooked LV screens I’ve ever seen as an FYI Dems have outvoted Rs more than 2:1 so far in early voting yeah I don’t think this bodes well for Collins
