BART is performing rail destressing between Lafayette and Pleasant Hill stations at midnight tonight. To create a safe work space for our crews, BART will reduce service from two tracks to one while the work is taking place. Riders can anticipate delays of 20-25 minutes.

Reminder: Trains will share one track between San Leandro and Bay Fair today. Riders in the area should expect 25–30-minute delays. BART continues to invest in trackside upgrades, track replacement, and modern train control technology to make the system even more resilient.

During FY26, BART completed 98 miles of track grinding and surfacing, added three new substations and four portable substations, increasing power capacity from Colma to Downtown Oakland by 30%, upgraded eight stations with new LED lighting, and completed three station glow-ups.

An interlocking is the fail-safe system that allows trains to safely move from one track to another. It’s a key piece of railroad infrastructure, and replacing it will help keep service safe and reliable for years to come.
