Mid Atlantic peeps - are you also getting this torrential rain? It just slowed down for a bit, and then started back up. Weatherman says gusts up to 70mph! I have the basement ready to hide in, in case a tree or six hits the house. #StaySafe

Hey everyone. I’ve been on a mental health break. I just got so overwhelmed by what’s happening in this country that I needed to step away. That, and the horrors I was researching for the Black History Month series I was doing, took such a huge toll on me.

Jordan suffered from pain in her legs until her death in 2008.  A few months before Rosa Jordan died, her son, Tommy, was at her hospital bedside as they heard the news that Barack Obama was nominated by a major party to become President of the United States.

Jordan was transported to Oak Street General Hospital, but doctors were hesitant to remove a bullet lodged in her leg for fear that it could spark premature labor. Instead, Jordan was told she would have to remain in the hospital for the duration of her pregnancy.

1941 - Dr. Charles Richard Drew, the pioneer of blood plasma research, established a blood bank in New York City. Drew went to New York to direct the U.S. Blood for Britain project. He created a central location for the blood collection process of donors who wanted to give blood to British soldiers.

1919 - A 23-year-old veteran named Powell Green was lynched by a mob of white men near Franklinton, N.C. After a “prominent” white movie theater owner was shot and killed, Powell Green was arrested for allegedly committing the crime.

On the second day of Kwanzaa, the defining principle is Kujichagulia or self-determination. Kujichagulia is the “right and responsibility to exist as a people and make their own unique contribution to the forward flow of human history.”

Folks.. there is way too much going on for me to post regularly right now. So I'll just say a few things. 1) if an account is pushing to raise money or make sales, question it. It's really easy to push an idea and ask for money (one way or another).. and it's not necessarily bad...
