I think it’s very funny if Zionists watch Superman and are offended by the depiction of the fictional country of Boravia because, aside from an alliance and military support from the US, the only other similarities they might see between it and Israel are the things they deny are true

It’s going to be so wild when Musk’s “department of government efficiency” gets to the military and discovers that all the money is accounted for and that there is actually no waste at all so no military programs will be cut.

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

DOGE shit is all bad but one of the underrated horrendous things about is that we all have to engage in serious discussion while calling it “DOGE” the cringe-ass 00’s meme. It’s so fucking corny and dumb and I hate the shit out of it. He’s such a fucking dork-ass nerd.

BREAKING: A federal judge has blocked President Trump's executive order forcibly to detransition trans women inmates and transfer them to men's prisons, citing the 8th amendment prohibition on cruel and unusual punishment.

Both right and wrong, Trump didn’t start this wanting anything specific. He did all this big dumb gesturing just to get everyone’s attention, knowing he’d find *something* in negotiations that his base would like and he could tout it as a “big win” and strengthen his support

I’m going to predict that the tariffs, if they even actually get implemented, don’t last the month. My hot take is I’m pretty sure he’s making a big show of it to get something he wants, and will immediately abandon them once he’s got it. It’s what he’s always done. Serial flip flopper

It’s so incredibly funny to me that the brilliant strategy from tech bros to attack DeepSeek is just to ask it about Tianenmen Square. Nothing about a weakness in the code or some sort of limitation, not even a data thing. Just simply a question about Chinese history. They got NOTHING.

Has anyone ever talked about the sheer number of cuts in Netflix shows and movies? And how rarely two actors having a conversation are shown in the same shot? It’s clearly to cut costs so Netflix can get a bunch of takes and decide which they like best in post but it’s so jarring when you realize

The right wing playbook is to do a dog whistle to the alt right, respond to the outrage by avoiding specifically denying what they did to not lose ground with the alt right, and then packaging it up to get points with their normal supporters by dismissing said outrage as utter woke nonsense

Pardoning his son is what Biden should’ve done. Write as much as you want about it, but the Republicans were going to make Hunter’s prosecution the biggest show in town and would have sought out every avenue for humiliation and degradation

There’s also a lot of inconsistency with Lucius’ character which I wouldn’t attribute to Mescal at all. Feels like he goes from a Maverick-esque character (cocky, light) to a more brooding Maximus-style character without much of a bridge between the two, 1 scene this way the other that

It goes without saying that the first one is far superior, but something that is funny is that the original was legendarily plagued with production issues and yet feels like a more cohesive story than the second by a million miles All in all, GladIIator, good not great.

Comparing the two performances, it’s hard to put Mescal up against Crowe because it just feels sort of unfair to do so but when Crowe has those big emotional moments, his performance takes it to an even higher level. Mescal didn’t do that. Some of those big moments just felt flat. Not bad. Just flat

I can’t remember when, but there’s a part where Mescal has to scream about something, and it feels like it was a run through. The last 10% of that scream was missing and I think that’s the problem with a lot of his performance.

Finally saw Alien Romulus. Big disappointment. Was super excited seeing all the practical effects in the lead up and that stuff was great. Makes the inclusion of AI Ian Holm that much worse. I thought people were being hyperbolic about those scenes but it really was That Bad. Crazy thing is that-

I believe there is sound reasoning to want to use his likeness in some way, he was an android (ignoring some issues with that) BUT to me, and in the spirit of continuing to use practical effects, why not achieve that through entirely practical means? I feel like you could achieve the same desired-

Effect by just making a prosthetic of a badly broken Ash android and you can just use a garbled voice. No AI, nice nod to the actor, everybody’s happy. But nope. Gotta do the uncanny valley CGI and Frankenstein him. Apart from that, movie just was kind of bloodless which was hugely disappointing-

i cant wait to become the richest man in indiana & build a fully stocked spider man themed bar in my basement that everyone refuses to visit

A take I’m sort of developing is that the momentum of the right is gained and maintained almost solely through provoking a reaction from the left/liberals and then reacting to the reaction. It’s a perpetual motion machine. Right wingers love nothing more than to see how we react.

It feels like the very performative but ultimately non-substantive “resistance” theater we get from national politicians only serves for right wingers to point at and say “triggered” and feel like they’re winning. Need to respond with action. Just do the job and stop talking about doing the job

Private equity is wild. Company gets bought for an absurd amount of money and the private equity “investors,” the least interesting most bland people with the deadest eyes you can imagine wearing vests figure out how to extract every last dollar until the company inevitably dies. Rinse and repeat.

You can’t expect it to be any other way because it is a different director with a different budget, but the Dune show feels very disconnected visually from the Dune movies. Not passing judgment just an observation that the difference is much more obvious than I thought it would be

That Cooper Rush sack was hilarious. The guy was running at him for like 10 minutes and all he does is stand there and wrap the ball up. I mean dude’s 300lbs. Try and run to one side so the guy at least has to change direction hahaha
