My website was LONG overdue for a massive revamp. I’ve added 4-5 years worth of work in just about every category, and finally organized everything in a more recruiter-friendly way! Http://www.betsybauerART.com

i'm not 100% joking either. these group project pilots where everyone passes the same $20 back and forth is just not sustainable. it's nice to have a good looking pilot, but i'd rather adopt 60's Hanna Barbera practices and actually make shows, shows that don't cost hundreds of thousands of dollars

Every year I promise my husband that next year will be calmer, and he laughed in my face when I told him that things will be more chill once I officially start working on my master's degree in January. I'm gonna start an MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adults in January and I'm so excited!

I fully respect everyone who makes the choice not to have kids because, truly, the experience is **intense**. That said, an issue that fully lights me up now is people being angry at children *existing* in public spaces. Since young children cannot be left unsupervised, we need to recognize that

…excluding young children from spaces also means excluding *women* from certain spaces. (Obviously children don’t belong *everywhere*—I’m talking within reason). Children do occasionally act out in public, but more often than not, this is due to bad parenting and not the kid’s fault!

I’m in Denver for work & decided to go to Casa Bonita while here & as SOON as I was checking in my husband called/sent photos of our daughter COVERED in a rash. Trying to check in as a solo diner at the Disneyland of Mexican restaurants while trying to contact a pediatrician is surreal.

*Trying to take a photo of my daughter’s insurance card in poor indoor lighting* BOOOOM fake earthquake *Googling food allergies* “Enjoy the puppet show and cliff divers!!”

Constantly in conflict of wanting to be a cool middle aged millenial who pretends they don’t have kids and actually being a mom that mostly wants to talk about her child all of the time because she is what I spend all of my time and energy on.

I truly, TRULY love that studios are not married to making all animated movies look as realistic as possible anymore, but I think the balance of making CG projects look GOOD in a 2.5D style is still really hard. So often it ends up looking really cheap. Regular 2D animation often looks better!

I’m going full midlife crisis mode—I dyed my hair purple (and put glitter extensions in it), I’m applying for MFA programs, I think I’m gonna re-pierce my nose… I also actually feel incredibly hopeful about all of this? We’re all gonna die and our bodies are decaying so do whatever you want!!

My daughter only recently started becoming truly aware of her surroundings. Now that the days are getting shorter, I realize that she didn’t know that it gets dark outside at night. She kept pointing to the sky and saying, “UH OH!! UH OH!!!!”

I'm so tired of news stories about Sydney Sweeney's boobs. They're nice. Good for her. Glad she's making money with the resources she has. Her politics probably suck. Aren't there more important things to talk about?

I am usually a person who shows up to the airport 2 hours before any flight. Unless it's a red eye, in which case for some reason, I always show up like 5 hours early.

Anyone who has access to serious wealth should look to Dolly Parton as an example. Thinking specifically of another extremely successful blonde pop artist who is in the billionaire level of wealth and claims to be doing feminist work 👀

Dolly Parton, among a thousand other amazing things she did in her life, gifted over 330 million books to kids through her Imagination Library program. Her passing is a tremendous loss to the world, but you can support the program today to keep it going imaginationlibrary.com

I continually hear that sci-fi is a difficult genre to sell in the graphic novel space, which makes me so sad. Sci-fi is definitely my favorite genre, and I wonder if there are more girls/women/nbs out there who enjoy that genre than mainstream publishing are willing to give credit to?

My toxic trait as an instructor is that I think grades are very dumb (and unfortunately necessary for most accrediation). I want every former and future student to know that I wish I didn't have to grade anything -- they are arbitrary and don't necessarily indicate anything about your future!

My husband and I are each traveling for work 2 weeks out of August this month (offset by a week so we get to solo parent a lot 🤡), and I look forward to my brain feeling like it's been run through a washing machine.

Hey Google, seriously, I don’t want your crappy AI generated response to be the default when I try to respond to an email. Get this garbage feature outta here.

I slept 10 uninterrupted hours last night and I feel like a super human. The world wouldn’t know what was coming if this was possible every single night—I might be TOO powerful.

Avatar Aang was beautiful and deserved a *national* theatrical release because, FWIW, it’s the first movie I’ve dragged myself out to see in theaters in 2+ years!

Also I rarely talk about my professorship but I got promoted starting this fall and I am ENORMOUSLY grateful for this! Starting my SEVENTH (!!) year teaching in the next month, now at the rank of *Associate* Professor!

I think I'm just going to start adding "start a new gig" to my creative process because I never feel like I want to make ANYTHING until I suddenly start a new gig! (I started a new small job doing some marketing art for a new animated movie this week and I am grateful!)
