The WNBA finals are tied, it's NBA opening night, and it's horror movie season? Once again I am obligated to post this still from Brian Yuzna's masterpiece Society (1989).

Incredible how often google's "Where to Stream" widget gets flummoxed by different movies with the same title, even after you specify the year of the film you're looking for.

There is one (1) real transgender sports problem in Texas, and it is this: You cannot watch a single quarter of any televised sporting event in this state without hearing a bunch of politicians and their supporters stir up hate against trans people.

Was on the phone with my dad yesterday and he said the line again.

My dad is visiting me right now and today he said "they don't make movies like Kramer vs. Kramer anymore."

Imo the way to come to terms with the fact that you will die and be forgotten, and that that is not only fine but actually good, is to do what I did: read Middlemarch while you're unemployed.

running for President on a platform of "all sports should be streaming on Tubi" and winning 500 electoral votes

Urging my fellow straight men to take the Homer Simpson approach to all stories involving lesbian bars: as long as they're observing appropriate fire safety, it's none of your business.

Great Moments in Progressive Rock History September 1, 1974: Caravan vocalist/guitarist Pye Hastings implores a live audience to clap out a solo in 7/8 time.

the Trump administration will be undone by its unwillingness to follow heterodox economist @eliyudin.com's proposal: $1 is now $2

You know we're in for a rough ride when a headline that could've been written by a 3-year-old trying to explain recessionary hyperinflation is on the top of CNN.com.

"The president has a tenuous grasp on reality and can't survive without his blonde assistant Natalie who takes care of all his life tasks for him" would be a lot cooler if it was happening because Adrian Monk was president.

I enjoyed Rose of Nevada and am granting it a place in the annex wing of the Spooky Coastal Town archive, but now I can only think of Callum Turner as the guy from the Sex Purge (which I did not see).

Understand some of the reservations about Camp Miasma but also don't care. The pitch "Gillian Anderson as final girl of a slasher franchise" is enough on its own to make me fork over my (meager) life savings to a filmmaker.

Exactly what I wanted. Bravo Jane!

just sitting here like a dunce waiting four more days for Camp Miasma to come to town

Had an absolute blast at my first Valkyries game on Tuesday.

Golden State Valkyries forward Gabby Williams: “There’s a lot of discourse around trans athletes and what they can compete in. I would welcome a trans athlete on my team or against my team. Anytime. I don’t think it’s a problem in the world, it’s just another way to kind of attack trans people.”

one of my X-Files posts is getting re-posted again, which just reinforces my belief that you could post literally anything about Brad Dourif on here and go semi-viral.

I know a lot of the bands from the era were explicitly apolitical, but has there every been a book or PhD dissertation or whatever about how The Troubles produced some of the greatest English language pop music ever.

I hovered over a Sophie Cunningham-related post on Instagram for probably half a second two weeks ago, and now 90% of my suggested posts are about her. (I barely even follow sports on there, mostly just people I actually know in person.)

Rocket to Russia on the turntable now. There are very few things I was right about when I was 13, but the Ramones really were That Good.

Ben@beeeencox.bsky.social

saw some Ramones posting today and also had a lot of apartment cleaning to do, which reminded me that the Ramones are far and away the GOAT cleaning/chores band.

Felt an enormous amount of Sacramento pride welling up when I saw that my barber's new location has a signed photo of Tyreke Evans.
