Been struggling to watch anything for a few months June onwards, but finally locked in and got four whole movies during the entirety of September

Happy #LetterboxdFriday! Time to post your #LastFourWatched 📲

For some reason considering picking up smoking for the first time in my life after watching A Better Tomorrow and City on Fire back to back

my take on the discourse: rock band really needed an difficulty in-between medium and hard because i full combo most songs on autopilot on medium but hard is kicking my ass even on supposedly 1 or 2 star difficulty

[me pausing my Cartoon one second in]: oh, so the word "restroom" is written as 「化粧室」, which stands for [change into]-[cosmetics]-[room], and thus it has more or less the same etymology as the word "toilet" in european languages??? the world is so vast and beautiful

outsourcing my enjoyable hobby of programming to a chatbot saved me so much of my precious time that i can now spend doing something productive with my life, like replying to every single complete stranger mildly criticizing me online with the copypasta justifying my decisions

as an outsider to the community who only occasionally and accidentally stumbles upon these, horrified to find out that game mods adding support for lovense devices and such are also full of vibecoded slop these days

the oldest photos I have of that: my bedroom from 2005-2007. livin' it up.

My biggest advice for youngsters: take pictures of the places that matter to you. Your home, your bedroom, your classrooms, the stores you frequent, etc. You'll probably have plenty of pictures of the people in your life, but the spaces change and disappear, and they're a wonder to revisit.

playing ffxiv really made me appreciate just how much creativity and mileage you can get out of ten canned pose animations and five facial expressions reused with impeccable timing across thousands of lines of unvoiced dialogue, love the recurring "camera zoom on PC scoffing with no text bubble" bit

every time a youtuber calls a 6/10 at worst game "the worst game of all time" their content creation license should be revoked and they should be forced to at least 100 hours of chipping away at kusoge mines

fuck topsters, my 9 games et al, more people should be spending an hour manually going through 1800 discs that are in the criterion collection's catalogue on their website and adding 8 discs to the cart as a hypothetical closet selection at home while being baffled by glaring certain films omissions

As a veteran programmer I declare Computer Science a pest : quickly destroy your computer before getting contaminated : it will make you smoke, drink, and you don't want to know about the rest.

DOOM '98 Imagined what if id Software released an additional entry in the Doom series in 1998, using a technological mix between id Tech 2 and GoldSrc engine. Going for the blend of fantastical and grounded, which would be in vein of Half-Life and System Shock 2.

pretty sure i never posted this anywhere--years ago when Hololive first became popular, i decided i wanted to try to be a vtuber or something and made a model, but gave up during the Live2D part 😵‍💫 this was a couple years before i even came out, but "it'd be cuter if i were a girl"

despite not being able to really actually draw to this very day, when larping as an artist on a project eight full years ago at this point made one of these icons for their custom hammer entities, trying my best to make the icon not look out of place too much alongside stock ones as so many mods do

tech art is when you draw fun editor icons

For some reason one of the first things I ended up working on was making a level select tool to teleport around the game. My first attempt at this... was not exactly a success but the ways it broke the game sure were interesting. (Why yes I did jump when I first saw this horrific thing)

Progress on the Astralathe refactor is still going well, but to keep myself sane I have been making sure to occupy myself with other projects inbetween. Most recently, I decided to revisit a project I've had on the backburner for a very long time now, a Silent Hill 4 project named x86Sacraments.

Trying to find the font used in Blue Stinger UI for fun, remembered Mata (www.t26.com/fonts/243-Mata) and thought that it's very close, but then did an actual comparison and turns out every single letter is noticeably different even though there are a lot of stylistic similarities, kinda annoyed

Though uneven thicknesses of horizontal lines compared to vertical ones (and also that clearly leftover @ from somewhere) makes me think it was probably squished in the first place, so I guess gotta look for a more square-ish one instead, eyeballed something like this (stretched vertically to ~160%)

praying for the day someone makes a from scratch alternative open-source Steam client replacement that only keeps the basic functionality (library tab + whatever's necessary to make games use Steamworks) even if it'd eventually steal all of my TF2 and CSGO items as a fair price to not use a CEF app

Still impressed by this and feel like screenshots don't really do the game justice and show the scale of the recreation they did, so recorded a loop in a photomode which took me 16 full minutes and sped it up 8x, and this doesn't even cover a lot of the streets available in other race configurations

Played a bit of PGR4 and it has the most impressive recreation of a city I've seen to date, a sizeable chunk in a 1:1 scale with every building present and seemingly bespokely textured based on the actual photos of real buildings down to bunch of small signs they made 3D, unbelievable time capsule

Alright, that's totally on me as by now I should've expected Bluesky to absolutely destroy the quality on any video uploads the same way it murders images, don't even want to imagine what it'd do to reasonably compressed nighttime footage
