Jeesh, it gets worse, doesn't it? Make Google replant the whole lot. These mega-corporations and billionaires think the law doesn't matter.

BladeoftheSun@bladeofthes.bsky.social

We had such outrage for one building burning down. But silence when Google illegally chops down an entire forest. Even though that has done far more harm.

Scrap it now.

Gillian Martin@gillmartin.bsky.social

Hospitals bombed. Schools flattened. A population starved. Yet the EU–Israel Trade Agreement continues, with trade worth €45 billion. The European Union is complicit in Israel’s genocide and the murder of over 70,000 Palestinians. SCRAP THE AGREEMENT.

That's right. America wants to burn the world; why should Europe pay the cost?

BladeoftheSun@bladeofthes.bsky.social

Right now Israel and the USA are planning to attack Iran again. It will cost YOU trillions. Europe should say "Fuck Trump and Netanyahu" And make a deal with Iran. Then Europe oil prices will go back to normal.

Well, you'd expect it to, wouldn't you? Man C didn't suddenly stop cheating in 2018. If the guilty verdict is upheld, as expected, then the Prem should investigate the period from 2018-2026 too, and if they find more cheating, impose a further punishment.

Chrissy Boy Slim@chrissyboyslim.bsky.social

Right, so what the UAE says is, let us cheat or we'll blackmail you? Not really the good guys, are ya?

Robin Wigglesworth@robinwigglesworth.ft.com

I was pretty cynical about Man City’s financial doping and didn’t like the idea of stripping titles etc, but seeing their utterly shameless response and desperate threats makes me want the book thrown at them.

Don't care. This is blackmail right out in the open. I never react well to that, and neither should the UK. Kick Man City out.

Mark Chadbourn@chadbourn.bsky.social

UAE officials have warned the UK that a severe punishment for Man City could hurt future Emirati investment in Britain, Bloomberg reports. This is the perfect argument for keeping foreign money out of football.

😂😂🤣

Billy Carpenter@billycarpy.bsky.social

Not proud of it, but I once got creative and registered a team of 20-year-olds in a U10s tournament. Other coaches kept saying things like "you can't use them" and "they have beards" and "I think that's Myles Lewis-Skelly." But whatever happened behind the scenes, the game is won on the pitch.

The Premier League have to take the nuclear option and expel them. Everything they've achieved is based on huge financial fraud.

Man City HAVE to be expelled from the Premier League. HAVE to be. 15 years ago these cheats beat Stoke City 1-0 in the FA Cup final. Stoke fans never got to see their side life the trophy. The MCI board is full of dishonest, corrupt b*st*rds.

Ben Blake reposted

Good question. Expulsion from the EPL should be a serious option. We already know the EFL doesn't want them either, and there's the point - all of English football is so disgusted by this brazen, repeated cheating, that they want nothing to do with MCI anymore.

PercyToplis@percytoplis.bsky.social

Why should Man City be allowed to continue as a football club? Theu have wrecked almost 2 decades of football history. Wind them up. If the support wanna buy the remnants and to through the leagues I applaud that. This is all so serious.. why the notion they should be allowed to continue?

A legal suit on Sky Sports just said: "Man City retained an army of some of the best lawyers in the world, who allegedly obstructed this process from start to finish. Yet they have seemingly been found comprehensively guilty. They can kick & scream, but there's very little scope for manoeuvre now."

If true, MANC need to be punished severely - to stop Newcastle, Villa, soon Liverpool, and other super-rich clubs from cheating as well. A trivial fine will tell them it's worth the risk. MANC should be hurt by the punishment, and badly. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footba...

Israel has been found guilty today in Geneva of war crimes including extermination, forcible transfer, starvation, torture and false imprisonment, sexual violence including rape... and many more If it was any other country than Israel all of Europe would boycott them. Instead there will be silence

When he banned CNN et al, I said that the wider press either walked out, or they would be colluding. Guess they made their choice.

AgentJoeMcJoe 🇺🇸@joemcjoe11.bsky.social

We should all be disgusted of the White House Press Corp. No one walked out No one told Trumpy to go fuck himself. No one said mean things to Trumpy after he chopped down another pillar of American Democracy. No one asked for proof any of them published 'fake news'. No one did anything. Sad.

We really have to stop this. If it means state funding for political parties then that's fine with me; otherwise, the system is wide open to being bought. I do not wish to end up like America.

Best for Britain@bestforbritain.org

Labour had the opportunity to act more quickly to tighten funding rules and preserve our democracy, and Andy Burnham must immediately review political funding regulations given this seismic increase of crypto money flowing into our democracy.

All true. And more: America has driven herself to the edge of bankruptcy with a series of pointless wars, alienated her allies, and abandoned most of her bases in the Middle East. It is exactly what bin Laden must have hoped for - to make America break herself.

The Rude Pundit@rudepundit.bsky.social

What 9/11 showed is that Osama bin Laden understood the US would tilt into madness after an attack. And we did everything possible to prove him right. We dishonored the dead, made our country crueler, and started wars that killed up to a million people. That should also be what we remember.

And all those funds have been wasted. Afghanistan is still run by the Taliban, Libya and Iraq are sectarian messes where extremism breeds, and Iran is more powerful than ever.

Robert Reich@rbreich.bsky.social

In the 25 years since 9/11, the United States has spent $8 trillion+ on wars that have taken millions of lives in the name of fighting "terror." Can you imagine if we had instead invested those funds here on climate, health care, housing, and education?

Ed Miliband said what Israel is doing in the West is Ethnic Cleansing, which is armed, supported and protected by the Government of Israel. Why is it Israel not being sanctioned?

So much this.

Zack Polanski@zackpolanski.bsky.social

Ed Miliband’s statement on Israel is only a first step. We need to go further: a full ban on goods, services & investment. Labour is still shamefully refusing to recognise the Gaza genocide. We must have a full arms embargo, full sanctions & an end to military collaboration.

Time to double it, I'd say. Oh, and tax the billionaires to pay for it.

EVERY STORY ABOUT BEAVERS FOR THE LAST DECADE READS LIKE: WE RELEASED A DOZEN PADDLE TAILED LITTLE FREAKS AND THEY IMMEDIATELY BEGAN A TERRAFORMING PROJECT THAT REVERSED A CENTURY OF ECOLOGICAL DAMAGE IN THREE WEEKS.

It isn't just risking public health in America. Europe doesn't want tens of thousands of unvaccinated asshats turning up every summer to say "Ain't that quaint" and infect the shit out of us. Thank you, no.

Robert Reich@rbreich.bsky.social

I'm old enough to remember when polio put my friends into iron lungs. We dutifully lined up at school to get vaccinated. We eradicated the disease. We protected the common good and saved lives. What RFK Jr. is doing to public health in America is a disgrace.

Irrelevant. UEFA supplies 60% of FIFA's money; without it, FIFA can't afford these schemes. If UEFA, CONCACAF, and AFC all quit, FIFA will go bust inside a year. And the African nations know it, so in a schism, they'll have to abandon FIFA too. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

bbc.co.ukIs Gianni Infantino still backed by the African football federations? The African confederation has yet to take an official stance, but where do the key African footballing nations stand on the Infantino saga?

This comment by FIFA effectively says for its critics, i.e. UEFA, to shut up or be punished. I doubt UEFA will shut up. This World Cup was the first my 10-year-old daughter followed; now a schism looks likely, it may be her last.

Chris Weatherspoon@cweatherspoon.bsky.social

"FIFA will not tolerate any attacks on its integrity and will take all necessary measures to defend its reputation." Well that's not very conciliatory now is it

Exactly this! Please, Dems, don't go chuck it in the bin - again! - because your nominee isn't the one you preferred. You're fighting fascists here.

David Rothkopf@djrothkopf.bsky.social

With primaries behind us, it's now time for Dems to focus on winning in Nov. That'll involve something hard: establishment Dems will need to ask what they can learn from progressives, progressives will have to focus on what they can learn from centrists & both'll have to find ways to work together.

Fully agree, Infantino is toast. He can't back down and survive, but if he tries to stay he knows all of UEFA and CONCACAF will be against him. That's 96 countries right there, close to the FIFA majority of 106. Hope he gets his arse kicked way the hell out.

Keith Olbermann@olbermann.bsky.social

Spectacular FU from UEFA to Trump Stooge Gianni Infantino and his attempt to privatize the World Cup and give part to the Trump Mafia. Infantino cannot continue after this. He'll be overthrown if he doesn't resign.

Ben Blake reposted

There is no longer any choice. We have to see a full UEFA withdrawal from FIFA. Private investment has absolutely no place in an organising body which has a moral duty to both remain neutral and be fully accountable. Infantino is a blight on the game and completely unfit for the role.

bbc.co.ukWorld Cup: Uefa furious at Fifa plan for private investment in tournamentEuropean football's governing body Uefa reacts furiously to proposals from Fifa to seek private investment in its competitions, including the World Cup.

Exactly. Corrupt under Blatter, corrupt under Infantino. UEFA is rumoured to be considering a boycott of FIFA events, and it's about time. The world body exists to organise world cups and a few other things, not to enrich a few individuals. Time for a new beginning.

BladeoftheSun@bladeofthes.bsky.social

Infantino has decided to sell off FIFA while potentially pocketing ten of millions for himself. It is time to end FIFA they don't own football, and they certainly can't be allowed to sell it. Make a new FIFA and throw this one in the bin.

Fascism is here. If you’re not alarmed you’re not paying attention. “Left-wing political terrorism” will mean those who oppose the regime — while actual right-wing extremism is allowed to grow and thrive. We are very far off the cliff, folks.

So, it seems Trump has now managed to pit FIFA and UEFA against each other, and possibly wreck world football. Everything he touches dies. #trump #kissofdeath #FIFA #UEFA #football #worldcup

Still growing then, eh?

It's actually the same mistake, four times. America builds its military according to the Douhet Doctrine - that air power alone can win wars. It's been proven wrong again and again, but never mind, Washington keeps believing that this time will be different...
