MAGAZINER: How many veterans have you deported? NOEM: We haven't deported veterans MAGAZINER: We are now joined on Zoom by a combat veteran you deported to Korea

This comment in particular really exposes how fragile our democracy is when you realize that bad actors can simply destroy everything if they're willing to disregard the rules

Does voting even have a purpose if the basic institutions of our democracy are destroyed? Musk is performing a coup in plain sight - with no obstruction from anyone that could actually do something.

Executive orders as they currently function should probably just not exist. The executive branch has no business doing stuff that ought to be legislated in the first place. Or at the very least they should be ratified by Congress before going into effect. It makes the presidency far too powerful.

For the last couple of years, I’ve been collecting antique books. This weekend, the latest addition to my collection - “It Can’t Happen Here” by Sinclair Lewis - arrived.

Trump’s anti-trans Executive Order is bad BUT it technically defines everyone as female. It states: “'Female' means a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the large reproductive cell." Since all fetuses "at conception" are female, Trump just defined EVERYONE as female.

I think there’s a misconception out there that good writing means phrasing things in a way nobody ever has or would—that if a sentence feels familiar in the mind it fails. The opposite is true. Good writing is phrasing things in a way everyone has always wanted to and recognizes in their hearts.

Let me know if anyone in corporate media asks Jim Jordan about how his star witness in the Biden impeachment inquiry just got 6 years in prison for making it all up.

My retirement goal is to live in a crumbling estate and sleep in the enormous library with no electricity, only candles, with a farm on the property and a cute family who runs it. They have a little girl who reads my books to me at night and she hopes that one day, I’ll will her all my money & books

Made pasta sauce from scratch! While it is a little thin, for my first time I think it turned out great! It honestly tastes amazing, the cherry tomatoes I used really gave it a unique flavor #goodlunch #gooddinner #pastasauce

I bet all the book-banning attempts would go away if they required you to have a library card and actually use it to read a book in order to submit it. The people who try to ban books from libraries are not the same people who actually use libraries. They just want control.

Two years ago today we were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for protecting The US Capitol on January 6th 2021. Almost 4 years later the efforts to downplay, whitewash and minimize what happened appear to be succeeding. I won't ever stop standing up to them.

One thing you will never think after reading a great book or listening to a great album or seeing a great piece of art is, “I’m really glad this person remained cautious while they were making this and guarded against being perceived as weird.”
