Got my new-to-me serger going this morning and started the first tailoring lesson project. This will be a simple, A-line dress, but I'm adding belt loops and patch pockets. I thought about normal pockets, but I think patch pockets will be cute. #sewsky #tailoring #learningisfun #retiredlife

I couldn't help it, I had to make a finished block to see what one would look like. To say I'm pleased is an understatement. To think, this started as a box of 3"ish wide scraps and Scrap Tape. So, I cut the first set of strips down to 10.5" lengths, sewed them 5 at a time into squares, trimmed them to 10.25", and started cutting them into triangles. Once I get the second strip trimmed, washed, cut down, and sewn/cut again, I can look at how to arrange them. #quiltsky #scrappyquilt #quilt

It works great! Scrap Tape by the Gypsy Quilter. I trimmed the excess down to the sides of the tape, then rinsed the fabric. It took a few seconds to start dissolving, but it did. Make sure you rinse it out completely. It's ironed and ready to use. #quiltsky #scrappyquilt #scraptape #makingfabric

While fabric shopping, I found some Scrap Tape to help you turn 3" +/- bits of fabric into 2.5" wide strips. I sewed the entire 25 yds today. I will get them trimmed, then soak then to dissolve the tape. Let's see how this turns out. #scraptape #quiltsky #make2.5inchfabric #scrappyfabric #makeitup

After my mom died, Dad had a ring made that combined their two wedding rings. He never wore it saying it was too feminine for him. When he died, the ring came to me. I had it resized from an 11 to a 6.5 so I could wear it. I think of them both every time I glance at my hand. #weddingrings #momanddad

As part of my studio revamp, I bought a new chair for my sewing machine cabinet. I fell down the wood stairs at our old house about 15 years ago & broke my coccyx, so need extra cushioning to sit comfortably. This should do the trick.
