Yes, we are bookstore & yes we love (and much rather prefer) to discuss literature, translations, history, etc. But it doesn't mean we need to turn a blind eye to what is happening in this country. If the tech giants use their wealth to undermine democracy, why can't an indie bookstore have a voice.

My friend's office is next door, I wasn't sure where she was at the time. Just heard from her and thankfully she is unharmed. What is happening in Kyiv right now is truly horrific. Millions of people are at risk of dying at any time. I'm not quite sure this really comes across, abroad.

Bloody hell. A russian drone struck a building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in central Kyiv. A fire broke out. People trapped inside had to climb out through the windows to escape. There are casualties.
