This is just the maddest argument. These people would trap us in poverty to keep a decade old commitment, which no one ever actually made, to an electorate which no longer exists.
“The perception that promises can subsequently be revisited by a political establishment removed from the realities of working communities has left lasting scars”, writes Labour MP @melanieonnmp.bsky.social 🗣️ EU free movement debate risks undermining voter trust www.politics.co.uk/2026/10/mela...

More to come on this, but those Labour MPs opposing talking about freedom of movement need to be aware that they are also condemning UK manufacturing to more barriers and probably further decline. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
🚨Brexit is slowing production of life-saving medical tech at local business Elekta, says the leader of Brighton & Hove City Council: "In the fight against cancer, we need our life saving enterprises to be working at maximum capacity."
Good. The government is finally catching up with where voters have long been on freedom of movement. Our polling repeatedly shows clear support for the advantages it would bring. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-uk-eu-free-movement-andy-burnham-b3073929.html
🚨 Cary Mitchell, Director of Strategy at Best for Britain: 👏 “Our polling shows clear support for the advantages it would bring. That’s only logical when the reciprocal benefits include opening 27 doors onto priceless opportunities for young British people"

📊 Research estimates that Brexit has led to shortfall on annual tax receipts of about £40bn. 🤔 Imagine what that money could do for our schools, our new generation of council housing, or for our armed forces...
Yes 👏 Finally, a Prime Minister being honest about the damage Brexit has done - and the only real option on the table. EU membership. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8e36kyk1qx5o

"Trump’s return to power has made the US pivot away from Europe more explicit, while Russia’s war against Ukraine has made the costs of acting alone hard to ignore. "Britain may have left the EU, but it cannot escape this geography."
Trump’s latest attack on the free press ⬇️ 👏 Good to see journalists standing up to the administration and refusing to be intimidated.
Many now feel that the social contract is breaking: that work itself, society and politics are no longer able - or even intended - to deliver for them. To begin to fix it, it’s vital that we understand this phenomenon that tells the real story. That’s why the Attainability Index was created.

"Legal migrant numbers are at a historic low and small boat crossings have halved, yet that didn’t stop anger at asylum seekers spilling on to the streets. "There is no level of migration low enough to satisfy some people. There is, however, a level of migration low enough to make us all poorer."
"Without shared ideals, there is nothing pushing back against this despicable president and regime – no countervailing moral force against the ongoing squalor. "Part of the project of ridding ourselves of Trump, therefore, must be to rekindle our understanding of the common good."
Last week, Hungary’s parliament voted to strip the anti-LGBTQ provisions out of Viktor Orbán’s 2021 child protection law, removing measures targeting gay and transgender people. https://bestforbritain.substack.com/s/weekend-wire

Excellent work @bjennings90.bsky.social. 🎯 Zelenskyy rightly said that he feels "betrayed" by Donald Trump. Together, with our European partners, we must always stand with Ukraine. 🇺🇦

⬇️ A heartbreaking story. Brexit is continuing to tear families apart. EU membership would return our freedom to live wherever we wish in Europe. It is about regaining all the opportunities we have lost as a country.
It won’t be a silver bullet, or a magic wand. Unpicking the chronic and complex web of the (un)affordability crisis will take a combined, cross-societal effort. Rather, we hope it fires the starting gun on a new journey to understanding, questioning, and addressing those problems.
Well said 👏 Caroline Voaden MP: "In today’s interconnected world, isolationism simply does not work. It is time to move beyond the politics of grievance and focus on the art of the possible. For me, that means the possibility of rejoining the EU as a full and active member."
🇺🇸 "Who among the democratic governments of western Europe, in the Elysée, in the German and Polish chancelleries, in Brussels or in Downing Street, can now trust a word that comes out of Washington? Its bond is broken, its honour in shreds."
The UK could join the EU within a single parliament. Yep, we said it. Here's the evidence.👇 https://bestforbritain.org/publication/how-the-uk-joins-the-eu-and-how-long-it-would-take/

⬆️ EU membership provides huge economic benefits to the UK and the EU, protecting both parties from the impact of American tariffs and protectionism. 👏 For a stronger and more prosperous Europe, the UK must rejoin the EU.
