In my new game, you can not only solve the disappearance of your neighbour's cat, but you can watch its hair grow in real time, as well as plant an acorn and see it grow into a full tree

Mobile games conferences are insane because it's ONLY talks about how to milk toddlers and elderly for money Not a single soul pretending they are in it for the love of the game

Rami Ismail (رامي)@ramiismail.com

Its forever been the wildest thing being at games conferences -especially the largest ones- and the talk schedule is like - creating sincere art from playful naivete - balancing passion and health - how to dodge parental controls when monetizing toddlers - regrets from my 1st commercial codebase

I always take issue with pundits quoting entire market share with mobile games included Do you really want to include Tommy's First Gambling app in your "games are a big market" argument?

Every single vibe coded mod I've seen so far just blows, not a single good idea in sight "BMW in Dalaran", wow how ingenious, truly a thing worse creating! Was Photoshop not an option?

As always those dorks imagine a world that doesn't exist, not only that label isn't added by store, your can just fucking lie and people will let it slide if they like your game well enough

Kim Hu@kim-hu.com

I can't believe he's still at it, it's been days

Or just magically have your indie game translated to 20 different languages on release, something that's both normal and totally affordable for a small studio

Gim reposted

while you port and emulate games, I ported Jira to my PSP

We tried "everyone is entitled to an opinion" for three straight decades and all we have to show for it is four thousand cases of measles and a death cult running the government. It's time for people who don't know what they're talking about to shut the fuck up.

>Please know that we're safe Posting like it's an active shooter situation and not Ethan shooting blanks at someone outside is marriage

I will continue to beat "Gamedev is run by failsons who were too incompetent for other industries" drum Half of those dimwits can't even do basic resource planning, let alone qualify to run a studio bigger than 5 people If they were even remotely competent, they would work somewhere else

Nayan Ramachandran@thetrin.blacksky.app

I feel obliged to once again reiterate that lay offs and closures are not a reaction to the economy, but a failure of leadership. Each wave of closures and layoffs should be looked upon as a consequence of greed and incompetence. If you can't keep your people employed, you are bad at your job.

Every middle manager is more qualified to run the studio than the entirety of the C-level because those people only know how to sniff each other's butts and say "We should go for LiveOps game next" If they all vanished from Earth today, every production schedule would save 6-12 months immediately

Every manager worth his salt has seen that dogshit "Asha is replying to support tickets" and saw it for what it is, an incredibly costly employee doing absolute fuckall instead of making important decisions and having a plan they can refer to

Growing up around doctors I can guarantee you none of you are ready to talk about how they discuss their patients. Making a Wojak is not even top 100 evil things they do

Bungus @ Onimusha@bungus2fungus.bsky.social

Imagine you pour your heart out to your therapist and you find out he wojaked you

Guess that solves the "will they allow gay characters" question

If you still live under the delusion that Valve is going to do anything about AI slop on their store I think you are just plain dumb at that point Check out their latest updates like new discovery queue or personal calendar and notice how both go out of their way to obscure AI tag and take the hint

Fascinated with people like Tim, essentially set for life, generational wealth in their hands, the world is their oyster, nothing to worry about Except Kenney

How fucking pathetic you have to be to help your boss union-bust in exchange for a few extra hours off work

Chris Kerr@kerrblimey.bsky.social

The IWGB is arguing that the 'moles' or 'information providers' were provided time off in lieu by HR as a "sweetener" for surveilling the union discord. Emails are shown that indicate a HR rep at Rockstar allowed someone to claim back the hour they spent combing through the Discord for info.

34 people lost their jobs, one of them while in the hospital, so you could do what? Fuck off from work a few hours early? Not even a fat stack of money man, just doing that shit for the love of the game

Seeing how half the industry has eachother blocked I have to wonder who's going to be the unbiased arbiter of the Mastodon instance or are we are just going to pretend it's okay for some ex-Kotaku guy with a weird obsession to quote dunk trans people to have admin powers

Kayin@kayin.moe

When bluesky dies, assuming atproto doesn't survive on its own (which it might but probably not), we're going going to "Make excuses to not use mastodon again awhile also just going back to twitter despite how much worse that is", right? We're not gonna do this AGAIN, right?

Entire industry run by imbeciles who think that a videogame can't be made remotely and COVID times were just a mass hallucination event

"This is your crisis, this is your failure:" Inside the global battle to preserve remote working at Ubisoft The Assassin's Creed publisher wants all employees to work in-office five days per week, but unions in Milan and Montreal have mobilised in defiance

Videogame pundits freaking out about it really self reporting just how little they know about the state of the industry they are supposedly experts in

Morgan Johnson@poormojo.bsky.social

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

Epic Games Launcher is such a dogshit piece of software that yeah I 100% believe when they say they vibe-coded a better version, only way is up for that thing

Wario64@wario64.bsky.social

new Epic Games Launcher in preview - "Programming is hard. So, instead of doing that, we vibe coded a new Epic Games Launcher that’s way faster and more responsive than the current one, and has a new look." store.epicgames.com/news/epic-ga...

Bro they are getting roasted in the comments even by AI users 😭😭😭😭

I was curious but ambivalent about the Shogun 2 Complete Edition thing, mostly because after playing it 2 years ago, game still looked phenomenal. So did we need this? Well, it’s out today and uh www.reddit.com/r/totalwar/c...

It's cool that Jason offers zero pushback on that line and just copy-pastes what the boss said to him, really hard-hitting journalism on display

White aging men in the industry were so busy making games about how hard parenting is, they, much like their characters, failed to make kids happy or interested in their hobbies

This post is unavailable.

Success of Roblox and mobile games over the rest of the industry and the oncoming crash are entirely self inflicted wounds that were easily avoided but I guess making games for kids is gay or something

How else will we entertain the manchild industry of pundits if we don't make another game about how hard it is to talk to your stupid son who keeps solving puzzles for you

Next fest is impossible to navigate at that point, a good feature helping small Devs get traction destroyed by AI

Jesse Boo-rascia 👻@jesseguarascia.com

Scrolling through Next Fest and I cannot stress enough how low to the ground the bar has gotten. If you make capsule art that is at least obviously not slop, you're beating out what seems like 99% of the competition

Every time I try to look up some paediatrician advice for raising my infant, I can tell which ones are coming from the US because they all focus on abandoning any sense of being close with your child as soon as possible No wonder people from the US are like that
