I feel like I’m living in some weird fucking Beckett play or a dystopian sequel to Being There where the president of the United States is just increasingly obviously a porridge-brained mental patient and everyone nods and smiles like it’s normal.

Trump: I love the meat! Ahhhh! I love it, look! *gestures*

Trump is retreating to his comfort zone. At the close of the 2024 campaign he pretended to fellate a microphone. Now he's miming blow jobs.

I...worked on this story for a decade...and...he just...he blurted it out.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump's affordability message: "You could even come to Mar-a-Lago. You'll be my guest. The problem is that for $5,000 the most you'll be able to buy is a hamburger and maybe a small dessert. I'm not even sure you could buy that! No, don't go there. It's not a good place if you're price conscious."

Susan Collins tried to mock her Democratic opponent for being a fifth-generation logger. It backfired. Now Troy Jackson is firing back, exposing just how out of touch Collins has become with working-class Mainers.

The argument that AI labs are talking about existential risks as a way of creating hype & inflating their stock prices has always been odd. You don't need to believe them, but telling people your product may murder everyone does not, in fact, encourage people to adopt it or reduce regulatory risks.

Remember when RFK speculated covid was genetically engineered to spare Jews and Chinese people?

Phil PlAIt@philplait.bsky.social

Hey, you already knew RFK Jr is a crackpot piece of shit working to kill millions of people, but did you know he's a *racist* crackpot piece of shit working to kill millions of people?

Justin Pearson's response: "Men of faith––let alone men who are married, in their fifties, and in public office––have no business sending unsolicited nude photos to women."

The Downballot@the-downballot.com

Tennessee Republican Brent Taylor, running to flip a House seat his party radically gerrymandered, reportedly sent unsolicited nude photos as recently as 2021. Taylor faces Democrat Justin Pearson for a seat that Trump won 60-39 under the new lines. www.the-downballot.com/p/the-downba...

That Trump Truth Social post about the GOP winning the 2026 election & not counting votes? That’s fake. But its virality in blue online spaces — & via text chains — reflects a broader pattern in this midterm election: there’s A LOT of concern on the left about the potential of federal interference.

For several days I have been hearing rumors of an ICE detainee death that ICE was not reporting. I've just learned a local journalist has confirmed it and will publish soon. Now I read this and see there are actually TWO deaths ICE is not reporting. www.daylightsandiego.org/ice-detainee...

To recap: F Bolsonaro lost the election. Trump says, oh well too bad but he doesn’t hate Lula. Rubio helps FB illegally dodge prosecution. Trump apparatchik says FB will now lead the opposition from the USA. If I am Lula, or the actual Brazilian opposition, or the US Congress what do I do?

Maybe in 65 years we’ll have a Brazilian-American Secretary of State trying to overthrow the Brazilian government

It's amazing how editors will say "we can't see inside this public figure's mind," "we can't assume their intentions" — and then write stuff like this.

Julie Roginsky@julieroginsky.bsky.social

FFS, NY Times!! He is not pursing “economic incentives” to “secure an end to the war in Ukraine!” He is giving Putin this money in exchange for gifting Lukoil to his friends, family and Middle Eastern bag men!

Bolsonaro is fleeing arrest in Brazil because he just lost his election and is under investigation for corruption, money laundering and currency evasion. Brazil's police canceled his passports and have been looking for him. Trump is giving him shelter, per this MAGA guy/former Mexican official

There are so many different credible allegations about Donald Trump being a rapist, you can almost understand how The New York Times missed the new charges here, but uh, this is supposed to be The New York Times.

Dave Levitan@davelevitan.bsky.social

It is short and so I assume they are looking into things but it is... interesting... that the NYT piece on the new House Dems report on Trump ties to Epstein simply does not mention the brand new rape allegation and says whatever this is instead www.nytimes.com/2026/10/26/u...

Nobody is going to call it Super Intelligence any more than they're going to stop calling it Lake Ontario. It's not super intelligence. It's not even as good as a human at most tasks.

The AI industry wants us to believe that AGI (a true super-intelligence) is inevitable even though they don't have a clear definition of what AGI is or a clear plan for how to get there. It might not be possible.

A reporter asked Trump if the Brazilian election was fair and he said, "I didn't take sides, but it was a terrible look for the world. It's another election. You know, elections have to be indisputable. And it looked very bad for me."
