The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs don’t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And that’s cowardly as shit.

Between 2015 and 2025, at least 15 children in an Idaho faith-healing sect died of treatable conditions. State law allows that to happen: Parents who say their faith prohibits giving their children lifesaving medical care can’t be prosecuted.

I am the kind of idiot where I think moral clarity and doing the right thing will ultimately be rewarded in politics and life.

We cannot allow slurs and hatred like this to be normalized in the public discourse. It has consequences for everyone. Also, standing up for trans people is just the right thing to do.

Bernardo H. Motta reposted

In case you wonder why I ever randomly start posting about how we have to respect and support trans people it's because shit like this makes me viscerally angry.

The man who has spent more money on politics in the last 2 years than George Soros has in his entire lifetime never says anything positive about his guy Ken Paxton. But he does serve up a steady diet of this stuff.

The "protection" narrative promoted by Trump and far-right groups like Heritage is a dangerous fallacy. Trump's DOE has abandoned sexual assault investigations under Title IX. It has set rules that effectively put the survivors of rape on trial and that favor the men accused of victimizing them.

The Trump administration has worked to portray itself as protecting women and girls through their anti-trans policies. Meanwhile, they've worked tirelessly to undermine protections against sexual assault. Wither Title IX, in this exceptional new reported story by @billiejsweeney.bsky.social.

Now that everyone can breathe (and live) another day, the work begins. Don't forget that the extreme right won a LOT of ground in the Brazilian Congress with even more victories in local elections. Lula will have very little power and NONE of this fixes the corruption that brought Bolsonaro this far
