Now that you've seen years of "AI exec says within 5 years everyone will be using AI" you're ready for the next week of "political operative says constituency they specialize in is at risk of not turning out"

This ad is bizarre and laughable to run when Americans have real concerns before an election, but I think that’s exactly why they’re running it. They’re terrified that the base is going to stay home and they’re panicking and trying to mash the old buttons to prevent that.

Liberals are the new racists, not like those old racists, whoever those were

I a just old enough to remember what the aftermath of 9/11 was like, and even then a member of the Bush administration saying something this Islamophobic would have been unthinkable. Sure they still thought these things but getting rid of the norms that kept them from saying it has been awful.

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

Much like a world with fake-ass corporate Pride merch, I would much rather live in a country where both sides at least pay lip service to everyone being an American over a mask off one like this because taking the mask off is a sign something has gone wrong.

every fan of an AL team should be experiencing secondhand shame that this is the best team their league produced. you should all feel like Lord Toranaga when Tadayoshi spoke out of turn at the Council of Regents

Postseason baseball is mostly an exercise in who has “it” in the moment. When both teams do you get fireworks, like last year’s World Series, but like now sometimes only one team has “it” and I’m sorry to Rays fans but it’s not them.

October is a grind, and it wears teams down. Just getting to the World Series is a damn near impossible thing, much less winning it. Brewers don’t look like they’re collapsing under the weight of it, and the Rays do.

For as soulless as the inside of the Trop is, the concourses are even worse. It’s like being in a haunted office park. I love it to death.

I’m gonna be real here, I don’t think inviting members of CENTCOM to your must-win game is sending the message that the Rays think it is. What are you gonna do, waste all the baseballs for the rest of the league?

I try to be open-minded about these changes but the new notifications in beta absolutely stink. Names and images are way too big and the text is far too small.

If you’re going to do this, just don’t open any files you didn’t type yourself. There are a lot of really gnarly Office XP vulnerabilities that will never get patched you’re exposing yourself to.

Just installed my 26-year-old copy of Word on a new desktop. I will never pay subscription fees for software I already paid for. I will go live in a shack in the woods first.

I’ve seen enough. We here at Lund Election Projections consider this house flipped.

Chrishell Stause announced that she and G Flip have separated after three years of marriage, adding that she doesn’t ‘have all the information or the reasons.’

A fun fact about elevators: it’s always 2% (or 0%) of total hard costs. Developers scale the number of elevators they buy to meet this number. Developing a six-unit apartment building? In Switzerland the elevator is like $50k so it fits within the 2% and they include it. In the US it’s $175,000…

"Percent of income spent on housing" continues to be a sort of silly metric. 1.) It's almost always ~33% 2.) When it's not ~33% it's generally because of a subset of the population is not working (ie, the Florida numbers are because there are retirees without "income")

The Minnesota Vikings have won all their games. Additionally, they have lost none of their games. All 31 other teams in the NFL have lost at least one of their games. However, we still must ask: Are the Minnesota Vikings good at football?

sports.coolToday in the NFL! The Vikings are undefeated. Are they good?Is it goodif you've won all your games and lost none of them? ALSO: A rare Chiefs blowout, and somehow J.J. McCarthy returned.

also kind of funny that it going YOLO with chatbots and image generators in 2022 appears to be extremely stupid, business-wise. that kind of shit is like two-thirds of why people hate AI, and it turns out to be unnecessary

This is the way

i'm not going to do the stupid thing where i have to anticipate every perceived caveat to what i'm not saying in my 300 character post like "i think public rail is good" because frankly i'd rather the rage addicted posters looking to fight with me on subjects i agree with them about just block me

This whole show sounds great and if your priors on Bob are that he's not good anymore you should poke around and see if there's something here you like. But do remember that it's Bob and that the songs likely won't sound like you expect them to.

"Tryin' to Get to Heaven" new arrangement last night is crazy. He's basically singing it over the chords to "One More Cup of Coffee." 14:45 in:

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

The wins column says that the Vikings are now the best team in football, and I think that’s a sign we need to rethink the usefulness of wins as a statistic

I’m watching an ad that says that Donald Trump is going to remove taxes on tips which really raises the question of why he hasn’t done that yet, since it was a major policy in 2024 and his party has a trifecta
