Hegemony means the dominance, rule, or great influence of one country. Trump’s tariffs aren’t about jobs for Americans. Carney, not that I’ve ever voted Liberal, got it right in Davos calling out hegemons. He’s all about power. Domestically. Internationally. And then there’s Danielle Smith.

Remember: The real freeloaders in this country are the rich — not the poor or immigrants or any other group of people vilified as scapegoats. The richest 1% evade over $160 billion in taxes every year. The United States literally has yacht and private jet tax deductions. Hello?

Andrew Schneer of the Conservatives lies so naturally. It’s pathological, Trumpian, and divisive. That grin makes me irrationally annoyed. The nonsense he spewed on CBC (magically the Cons decided to use it) was special. Even for him. Rant over.

So. David Collins from the McDonald Laurier Institute on the CBC this morning went on about how Carney needs to get stuff done. Why hasn’t the pipeline been built? Why are there still inter provincial trade barriers. WTH! First off. Never voted Lib in my long life but some of these right wing 1/2

And to a lesser degree the left are just quizzical. There’s an MOU re pipelines that a whole bunch of parties need to address first. Trade barriers involve provinces primarily. If Carney rammed these through without consultation no doubt Collins would be pillorying him for that. Rant over 2/2

If someone turned to you in a coffee shop and started talking to you like this, you would nod politely with a weak smile so you didn't hurt his feelings or spark his aggression, and then you would drain your cup, gather your things and walk out.

For non-German speakers: “Dear media, I can’t stand the headline "No agreement between the US and Denmark” any longer. If an armed man storms a bank, you don't run the headline: "Robber and cashier can't reach an agreement on money transfer." Stop framing imperial aggression as normal diplomacy.”

I kind of like this whole “We won’t buy your liquor but we will air your state-suppressed news stories” niche that Canada’s apparently carved out.

Shout out to GO Transit for essentially cancelling trains on Lakeshore West line all weekend. Not much going on is there tomorrow afternoon. 45k at Jays game, 29k at TFC, all in mid afternoon. And the usual going’s on in Toronto. I know it needs doing but, plan better ffs.
